Apologies
My name is Ricardo Locke. I am posting under Roy's account at his request. Please relocate this post to the appropriate forum location.
Roy was a struggling writer, award-winning critic, graphic artist, publisher, editor, computer technician, game designer, army airborne, an instructor of aikido, judo, boxing, wrestling, and I do not know what else.
Roy used to brag about having lost two competition fights due to being disqualified. I am unaware as to how many competitions he won. It is unlikely Roy kept track. Roy won an incalculable amount of awards in his other fields. One of his greater accomplishments was obtaining an International Leadership Award from a variant of the Associated Press.
In his lifetime I felt Roy accomplished plenty, but he was never satisfied and pushed himself too far. He had been both wealthy and poor, violent and passive, extroverted and introverted. Roy believed the only way to truly grow, one had to experience everything imaginable. Sometimes he took this philosophy to extremes. Roy would say consequence was an experience one cannot prepare for, but must endure for the lessons it provides. In this, Roy endured far more than any man or woman I know. Roy was reckless and wise, a combination of traits that made him profoundly unique.
At Roy's request, I am here to inform you he passed away at the age of 45. You knew Roy Locke as white warlock. He was my brother, immensely respected within our family, and we will all miss him. The last few years of his life he was plagued by illness, injury and depression. Roy's unpublished works will be made available to his writing associate and editor. We do not have a date as to when his work will be published. At Roy's request, a portion of profits will be anonymously donated to undisclosed charities.

Far too young.
Interesting, my younger brother is named Ricardo as well. If you're still reading, we'll miss your brother. He only last posted two hours ago, so I guess he was with us to the end.

Okay my mind is bugging out... it may not be "polite" ... but what the hell happened?
I mean two hours ago WW posted in the NWCon4 Status Update thread and now his brother is posting his obituary?
Death is a sneaky underhanded quick crappy thing...
WW - I will remember as the "old" goat that had unending passion in the face of critics...a sour puss at times, but still a faithful ALFAn.
Godspeed.

I just spoke with Whitey in game yesterday. Stunning really.
Thank you, Ricardo for informing us.
I am very sorry for your loss.
When you think the time is right and appropriate could you please direct us to Roy's writing. I am sure many of us would read enthusiasticly.

We had our differences many times over the years, but we still talked quite alot in private, and I felt i started to get to know you.

"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully." -- Richard Dawkins

Thank you Ricardo. We'll miss him too.

Oh... my god.
I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I adored Roy (despite the occasional tussle we'd get into) and all that he offered to our community - he was a truly unique man whose insight, eloquence and persistence I often admired.
He will be missed, for certain.

People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

This is hard to hear.
Thank you for telling us, Ricardo.
I feel like I could have learned a lot from him, and regret having only recently become friends. He always seemed like he would be around, and tough it out, whatever was plaguing him.
Rest in peace.

Man.
We were playing on TSM not a day ago, discussing his next character through PM's... A Peter Pan type, debating what PrC Peter Pan would have...Duelist, Shadowdancer ect. Even joked about throwing a croc into the river around Rivermoot.
WW, may your spirit find the peace it so often sought, Ricardo, thank you for taking the time to tell us. Your brother was a colorful and interesting person that I respected immensly. Know that my thoughts are with you and your family.
