Western Heartlands Status Report

Post by Teric neDhalir »

NWN2 011 Western Heartlands Beta now back up and running. See the Beta forum for details. I have applied for the server status to be changed to Beta 2, but that's not definate yet.

The main part of the server in terms of geography, settlements, merchants etc is done and I've laid out quite a lot of underground areas with broad strokes with clear ideas of how to proceed.

I'm now looking for any volunteers to help with any of the following;

Scripting; I can normally batter my way through whatever I need to write, but it's ugly and I find it painful and distracting from the "serious" business of making my server look pretty. I have two projects on the cards that will need dealing with soon that will bog me down for weeks and I'd like to farm them out if possible;
1. Finish the encounter system for scaled travel areas. What I have so far works (I think) but is missing all the code to clean up and reset the encounter area. This means thinking through what happens to dead PCs, bleeding PCs, despawning any creatures in the area etc etc.
2. P-Storage. I know there are issues with this on TSM but I need to at least have a first shot at this. I need something custom, however, that would work more like a bank than simple chests. i.e. you go to a "warehouse" and ask the man on the counter to look in your safe deposit box. Bound to have been done before, but it's beyond my experience.

Building: I don't normally make too much of a fuss about getting toolsetters in because it's the part of the process that I actually have some facility with. Having said that I've got a swathe of canon "dungeon" areas that need making and could do with a bit of spadework doing :) So if you fancy looking at the Halls of the Hammer, Dungeon of the Hark, Dungeon of Swords, <SPOILER>, <SPOILER> or <SPOILER> then get in touch.

Writers: I have had three brave souls step up and start to help adding plots and statics but we could always do with more. As before this is not a toolsetting job, it's a writing D&D job and requires no experience, only imagination.
