There's no final ruling yet, but it seems likely that warlocks will be subject to multiclass restrictions.Analogkid wrote:Whats the rule on warlocks and multi-classing? can one start a PC in something or other and then take levels in warlock later, or must one start off as a warlock?
The power of concealment lies in revelation.

Mightn't be a bad idea. Helped a couple people in IRC get a view to what to keep in mind when rolling first character by linking them to this... Alternately just a one post version of the sticky, with people discussing status as things change in this existing thread, could work.Leevoth wrote:Should this be stickied for future use and changes perhaps?

In my own playtesting I've found that medium armor is AC 5 only, AC 6 is heavy (and of course AC 4 is light). Had I known this I wouldn't have bothered to take the battlecaster feat, as my recollection from the OC is that medium armor went to AC 6 Breastplate.
Is this a purposeful change, not a change and I just haven't found the right armor, or what? At any rate it seems worth documenting.

Vanilla:
Light = Padded, Leather, Studded, Chain Shirt. Yes this ranges from AC 1 to AC 4.
Medium = Hide, Scale, Breastplate, Chainmail. This ranges from AC 3 to AC 5.
Heavy = Banded, Splint, Half Plate, Full Plate. This ranges from AC 6 to AC 8.
Yes it's kind of odd that there's a slight overlap in the "light - medium" categories (chain shirt at least is properly Light, and hide armor is properly Medium), but this seems like something NWN2 vanilla got correct from 3.5 without any changes. NWN1 didn't (though it would've been trying for 3.0 fidelity).
I am unaware of any changes ALFA would've made to this.

Alright, just a failure in my recollection then.

That seems a little odd to me, as who knows when powers that have line dormant throught ones youth may suddenly surface.Veilan wrote:There's no final ruling yet, but it seems likely that warlocks will be subject to multiclass restrictions.Analogkid wrote:Whats the rule on warlocks and multi-classing? can one start a PC in something or other and then take levels in warlock later, or must one start off as a warlock?
Plus it prevents some totally legitimate character set-ups -like somebody who was training to be a fighter before their powers suddenly became manifest. Yes, the level 1 fighter will have to RP his minor supernatural effects until he reaches that second level, but its still a valid concept.
I *would* think that a note in the players Bio at inception would be required though.
And if it gets abused - well, deal with it case by case. We had uncountable nos of ranger/rogues in NWN, as I recall, yet nobody suggested a ban or restriction...

So it's been a week or two, and the admin have not had any further discussion on this stuff. Can things be moved along slightly?Favoured Souls are not available for the live start, but principally supported. It is our strong hope their adjustments, balance and story wise, will be finalised within the first week after live and then be cleared for creation.
Warlocks are not available for the live start, but principally supported. We hope to address all outstanding concerns once Favoured Souls have been released.

I was wondering about this myself. Whats the word on Favoured souls and Warlocks if anybody knows?Vendrin wrote:So it's been a week or two, and the admin have not had any further discussion on this stuff. Hey all. I'm new here and I was just wondering if someone would consider editing the original post with some explanation for each change? It's easier for people to accept changes if they at least can see the thought process behind it. People may still disagree, but it's easier to respect a person's decision when you know why the decision was made.
For example:
What are the specific concerns with Favored Soul, Circle Kick, Resist Energy, etc??
Having read the post about Toughness, I now understand the change was made because of the way NWN2 implimented the feat. I still don't like it being a level 1 only feat (maybe that's why you have had so many Dwarves and never any Dwarven Defenders) but it's easier to accept knowing the reason the decision was made.
You also might want to consider locking Favored Soul on the OAS. I know it's my own fault for not reading the fourms closely enough but I created a Favored Soul on the OAS and spent hours roleplaying him on the OAS with a DM who then approved me for the live servers. I really enjoyed playing the character on the OAS so I did a lot of research to come up with his background, reasons for traveling to the Sliver Marches, ect only to log into the live server and find out I can't use him.
