Playing on hold

Post by Holy_Rage »

I just wanted to announce that I will stop playing my PC until further notice. My apologies to Jodyhamilton (DM) and my fellow PCs (Arkan, Paazin, Electryc) on Moonshaes for this, it has nothing to do with you guys.

I do hope that ALFA will show some good sense of justice that will make it worth my time and effort investment. I have high expectations and until all ALFAns are equal and are treated equally, I don't think it's worth it. This applies to my Sembia DMing too, but on the inverse: I am afraid I cannot DM players I cannot trust.
Current ALFA1 PC: Raldin Thunderbeard

Mourning the passing of:
ALFA NWN1: Tergrash Forgesnuffer, Duergar Lairdson (orc-savaged in Ammarindar), Dalia Kaeldan (Ilmateri), Nermeduk the Gray (Half-Orc wizard) and many others

It can't be fixed until we know what the problem is. More elaboration or PM's to the appropriate Admins?

Good sense of justice, HR? Presuming you have all the facts, which lacking Admin access you likely don't, what would your idea of justice involve? Have you thought it through that far or are you just serving as the mouthpiece for an angry and vengeful man?

The reason I'm responding to this is because I find, implicit in your statement, the suggestion that ALL remaining members of the Admin team are acting in a manner wholly contrary to the best interests of the community. That is an extraordinary statement considering that only 1 admin of 5 had a dissenting view. Every one of us has put our hearts into this project. Everyone one of us wants to see ALFA thrive. And we are trying to do what we think will achieve that end, not play favorites as you seem to suggest. That truly belittles our intentions. For may part, I wanted to avoid precisely what is transpiring - losing members - and instead finding a way to an amicable solution. But that's never possible in the face of unwavering principle, is it? We were forced to choose, and choose we did.

So, I guess if you're just unable to accept decisions that you don't agree with to the extent that you'd walk away (or worse), maybe you don't belong here. Maybe you don't belong in any community for that matter. And maybe Fluff is right. Maybe it is time to adopt a council format. Let ALFAns inherit the responsibility for tending to their own community and make of it what they will. After all, I've always said ALFAns should get what ALFAns want. But you don't need me to tell you that there is NEVER a way to make everyone happy. It is not a trivial challenge to hold together a community where people are intent on either having their way or tearing it down.

I sincerely hope you - and others - elect to take the time to carefully consider your decisions. Thanks.

Huh... all Holy_Rage really said what that he's withdrawing from things due to some kind of perceived injustice. I don't really see where that's a condemnation of Admin or a presumption of unanimous guilt- but then again, I've got no idea what this is all about.

Just saying... I don't see anything in Holy_Rage's post that's out of line or makes me think he "doesn't belong here" or whatever. Sounds like everyone involved needs to take a bit of time to cool down (funny, isn't that what he's posted to say he's doing?).

Oblivious and confused,

Angry posts from anybody serve no purpose. We all belong in this community. Statements to the contrary are just anger speaking to anger, frustration speaking to frustration. Decisions are made; sometimes difficult decisions. I wish that everybody could be pleased at all times by decisions, but that can patently not happen.

Meanwhile, disputes are held on a private forum. Please don't air them in public, as Infra strikes could only serve to exacerbate the bad feelings.
Enjoy the game

My humblest apologies if it seems I'm angry with HR. I'm not. But there is a perception I wanted to address, that a decision was made with anything but the best intentions in mind. I don't want to see anyone leave over this, and that absolutely includes HR.

I sincerely hope that you, and others who feel like you, will remain despite any disagreement you may have with this (or any other) admin decision. Life just isn't perfect and the simple truth is that we'll never get anywhere as a community if we keep losing good people over hard decisions.

Apology accepted with sincerity, Cipher, even though being accused of being anyone's mouthpiece is very grave.

My decision remains as is though, because the decision in question disturbs my personal ethics and principles.

I do believe my name has been taken in vain. Hmph.

Regardless, if y'all are gonna air some dirty laundry, might as well be thorough about it and let it all hang out.

I appreciate your veiw HR.

Just know that on the flipside, if those condemned had been taken action against.....

I would have seen fit to leave. It's a no win situation. But I do applaude your firm stance in your beliefs! And I do hope to see you tomorrow...politics aside, I enjoy your rp and you are a blast to DM!

Until then,

We're all a long way to hell bruva.

You'll be back.

I know this coz we all are.
We're a motley bunch of strange peeps. Thrown together in a strange non-face to face world where we all search for something and, lets be realistic, sometimes is just wont work.

The one thing i know from alfa is different servers/different fun. Playas and Dms on one place i've found horrible. But the playas working with them LURVE it. Next server.......the DMs click. Me and the players click. Hell i still ask how their wives and children are! And it's like i just you used to know it's...(looks for word)......fun.

Go forth into the wilderness of Rl. Girls (or lads) parties, drinks, career, family, beaches, rainforest, mountains (sorry i've just been on a 3 week carry your own food hike into wilderness so love mountains and forests) and breeeeeeath.

Come back and see what happens. Somewherere else. A new part of fareun. A new puppetmaster. A new company of comrades. A new story to unfold.........

Fun is not limited by one or few when there are many waiting to take the seat next to you at the tavern and pretend to offer you the chance to throw your alter ego into harms way.

There are many of us.

The jig is not up my friend........

I'm sorry, but this certainly isn't a flipside of the same coin.

There is a stark contrast between your display of unconditional personal loyalty here, and HR's principled re-consideration of participation due to his own values such as respect for the rule of law, equality, and justice.
