Joos, AL and I just talked about that this evening, a starting merchant will be made and available soon...in the mean time...enjoy gettin gouged. :P

**edit** That is an affirmative Joos, good spot on the merchant. Prices are way too high, have notified the authorities, the Half Orc will be apprehended and publically flogged. He knows better! :D

My compliments to Teric for his building and DMing, Dergon for his DMing and not minding when the other reindeer wouldn't let him play (and especially for not saying "I told you so" when the other reindeer died a horrible death without him); Hin for his RP (what a pleasure to meet such quality RP in someone I'd never met prior to the adventure).

That was a lot of fun. *notches the first ALFA DMed NWN2 session into her belt and considers having t-shirts made: "I survived the first ALFA DMed NWN2 session.... Er...wait. No I didn't."

Thank you!

"I survived the first...er...third...er an ALFA NWN2 DMed session. Oh, wait. No I didn't." Just rolls off the tongue, don't it?

El C; 6am. On a Sunday? Are you sure you want to do that?
Please feel free to drop in. We may need a substitute and there may well be other DMs about too. (I am trying to test the scripts etc in a particular area and also whether my assumptions about CR of dangers are correct so forgive me if I restrict the playtesting party to four as advertised.)

For everyone's information: The OAS is now patched to the latest version of NWN so please make sure you are too. Also it's been invisible on the Gamespy PWStory list for some people but can be got at via the history list if you've been on before. *shrug* One of those things.

Glad to hear good times were had.

And yes, Hin is a model roleplayer. I'm not surprised to hear good things of him. 8)

Thanks to everyone who came along or was co-opted for these sessions. It was very interesting to see people working through something that I'd put a lot of detailed design into. Could I have some feedback on what you thought, specifically;
1) Difficulty. Does it seem a reasonable challenge for 4 x 1st level? Too hard? Too easy? (FYI it's killed 33% of people who've been down there.)
2) Interest. Was it an interesting exploration, or just a straightforward hack 'n' slash. And did any of the design make any sort of narrative sense or was it just a bunch of rooms with stuff in.
3) What didn't you understand about any of the design or systems?
4) Other. Rants? Raves?

Thanks
Teric

PS. If you logged a character out while still underground could you not use them again? I'm not sure whether you could get out, and if you log in various scripts and spawns will be triggered until the next reset, which could cause problems if anyone's trying to run the adventure. Cheers.

Hi Teric,
nice fun game, cool building and scary feel to lower levels. One thing. Can you disable crits by monsters for 1st lvl quests? That skeleton really layed the smackdown on me!!!! Would be interested to play it when live and delve into those, extra bits we glossed over...
Oh, and my appologies if we rolplayed too much. Shorty was an easy mark for the making for happy funny times.

I'll check to see if you are on and find out a good time to run the ga untlet with my character, or get ported to saftey.

Here my two cents:
  • Love the fact the environment more or less forced you to use torches or light spells. Finally elves, half-orcs, elves and gnomes get use of their low-light vision.

The lvl design was nice, but a bit empty. Maybe add a bit of debris etc.
The spooky feal of the dungeon could be made even spookier if you add sound effect triggers when moving over certain passages. For example, enter a room and you hear a distant wail, moans, whispers panicked breaths etc. Have a look at Doom 3, FEAR and Bioschock for examples.

More, simpler mobs. No fun going through a whole dungeon lvl and finding one mob that kills half the group. More fun with many, not so tough mobs. For example, instead of human skeletons, you could use kobold or goblin undead, mixed zombies and skeletons for variety.

Perhaps add a few scrolls and books of nonsensical information about the dungeons previous occupants and why everything went bad.
Thats my thoughts on how to add a bit of more fun to the adventure.
Thanks for having patience with us!
Cheers,
