One way I could interpret this is to know which information to populate in canon journals, that being the books fewest players own and thus least likely to know anything about.

Frankly, I think we should approach this from the point of view of what we WANT players to know. The rest is just gravy.

I realized after a lot of people had voted that I left out a "none of the above" option. I need to do this stuff with more sleep behind me.

But as indio has been able to OCR pdfs, it might be moot anyways.

Having info in journals would be great -- You could even give rough estimates of Lore levels required to know some of the slightly less commonly known things.

Could even have a section for 0 or -ve Lore that gets the info a bit off from reality in the form of hearsay- or tavern gossip.

--

Just to make this bigger then people probably want, could even have the journal entries based on a lore check on character creation so that not every character starts with the same tav-gossip or not everyone has read the same forgotten tomes.
These would of course only be a suggestion not strictly adhered to, as each char is different.

I like the idea of giving canon journals to PCs according to their ranks in knowledge. Saves them a trip to the library. :)
