I play ALFA primarily to RP in DM events not the tavern :P and choose to play on a server where I can recreate the "table-top gaming" experience.

Thus I play on servers where I can find the most consistent/reliable/evul DM activity.

I think that the point held by some is that that is not a bad thing. I think saying "things will rapidly grind to a halt" puts a negative spin on it. Why not say that we will have reached a point where server growth needs to slow or stop while we concentrate on expanding the pool of DMs so that we can support more growth?
I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm quite happy to see expansion come to a halt if we don't have enough DMs to man the new servers. Obviously, a greater supply of DMs would be preferable to limiting expansion, given the choice, I'd rather not see our DMs spread too thinly.

Other's disagree however, and believe that limiting servers based on their being DMs to man them is a betrayal of everything ALFA stands for. The mission statement, is, after all, a recreation of all of fearun. Doesn't say anything in their about fun or playability ;)

Trust those of us who have DMed on massive packed servers. It's not worth it. Or say you know better, whichever you want, but don't whine to me when there are so many people on a server that you can't carry a conversation and the lag prevents you from going through any doors. :P

That's why the basis of the conversation has shifted from player density to DM density.

If you have 20 servers, but only 4 of them get decent DM coverage, you *will* end up with the problems you describe, as everyone flocks to those 4 servers.
