In your main daily session, how long do you spend in game? Please round to the nearest option.

Thank you.

Anyway, we all know that "teh Burt" is sorely lacking in the "Life" department ;)

Pfft, I wasn't confessing. Just remarking my astonishment that 8 hours was an option. :P

Personally I ticked 2.

so if you play 6 hours one day a week ... you would check 30 minutes?

I assumed that it was for the single "main event" of the week.

Nope, you'd pick 6 hours.

Granted the poll, like the others, is flawed.

The best example I could give would be if someone plays 6 hours on Sunday, four hours on Mon-thursday, and nothing on Fri/Sat, they should pick 4.

It is not (TOTAL WEEK TIME/# SESSIONS) but more properly (MOST COMMON DURATION)

The mode, as opposed to the mean, as it were.

Too long!

Post by Ludo »

I am always worn out after three hours of play, and I have never been in a DMed session shorter than three hours. Is there an ancient DM for this ancient ignoramus, who runs two hour sessions that turn into three, rather than three hour sessions that sometimes turn into four?

My biggest complaint with ALFA has always been this very thing. DMed sessions that run for 4, 5, even 6+ hours. It's inconceivable to me that someone could have a career and be able to play in events like that.

So, I moved to Daggeford where the DMs have my playtimes and can somehow manage to run a nice session in a 2 to 3 hour timespan. Not saying they haven't had some marathon sessions that I haven't been able to participate in, but they aren't the norm. Gives us old people with jobs a little lovin'.

Hey i've been in DMed events on TLR that were over 8 hours and over several days.

Started at 8 in the evening and finished at near 4 in the morning.

Then got up and went to work at 8.

It's a painful way to play but OMG some of the best sessions i've ever been in.

Sessions that made my character who he is and many others too.

If you got the coffee in you to make that kind of sacrifice every so often and can find DM's who has the ability to keep ontop of and run these sort of sessions then i can promise you it's worth it. You never get out of your average 3 hour session what you can get in an uber marathon all nighter.

Then again i have to admit, I wouldn't want to play like that all the time, if i did i'd have devorce papers on my desk. Would be cool to get some sessions like that on weekends, starting at lunchtime and running into the evening though.

Good to hear you have had fun. It's just that some of us really can't or don't want to play more than 2-3 hours at the time. Nothing wrong in continuing the session later but... It's just not possible to be online that long.
