The Sword's Edge Adventuring Company

Anyone spending much time in the inns and bar rooms of Baldur's Gate will come to hear tales of an active company of adventurers who have taken up residence in the city.  The company is well known to adventurer types though there is disagreement about who and what the Sword's Edge really is.  Some claim it to be an independed group of adventures while others believe it to be tool of the Dukes, mercenaries bent on crushing any threat to their rule.

The Edge has a long history in the Gate dating back many years.  At one time or another the group was led by an elf, a dwarf and most recently a human by the Name Merrin Allister.  Years before the Edge rebuilt it's current guild house across from the Temple of Gond and took up occupancy, the Edge was known to frequent the upper floors of the Elf Song Tavern.

While many tales of the group's exploits echo in the halls and tap rooms of the Sword Coast, most notable involve the group's prominent roles in putting down an undead uprising that began beneath the city's very feet, the battle at Tempus Tears, the rooting out of the visious Bells gang and most recently, whipers that Geth, the self proclaimed bandit king and his gang have been wiped out at the hands of the company.

Current rumors concerning the group whisper of unlikely adventures in the debths of the underdark and repeated rangings into the darkest parts of the cloakwood.  Word is that a large force of veteran Fists is being organized for an assignment outside the city that somehow involves the Edge.

Merrin Allister has been heard to inquire in local establishments about the availbilty of scouts and adventurers for dangerous work and good pay; the running joke among the locals is how unlikely it would be to live to collect the gold- that were all the past Edger's above ground they would rivial the Fists in numbers.

Know Members:

Merrin Allister- Human wizard, known to frequent the Blades and Stars, often receives messages there.

Rhaggot - The rumored Compoany's second, half-orc war priest of Tempus, known to frequent the temple of the Foe Hammer in the docks district.

Toc- Human known for his bladework - fond of the Merrmaid and known to invoke the name of the Lady of Luck and is rumored to be so lucky many refuse to dice with him.

Saltine- A strange young half elf woman who returned with the company from the underdark - and who speaks just like the old human sailor that left with the company.  Also fond of the Merrmaid, and known to be skilled as a sailor.

Many other names are known to be associated with the company, some dead, some missing, some perhaps simply friends.  One thing is certain, where the Sword's Edge travels, gold, blood and adventure are sure to follow.

I approve of announcing player groups to all players, extending a "come play with us" hand in welcome, like this. :wtg: Jolly good show.
More IC secretive groups might well to do with the OoC forums, though.

Sorry for this OoC injection, but I felt this had to be said.

Aish hogging the Friendly Arms Inn again, if inquired about the rumors would roll her eyes a little.

"Swords Edge on the loose again? What's this time? I remember fighting alongside the bunch against a small army of Baneites. Half of them nearly bit the dust, I tell you that. If they have anymore planned this time - they're not going to last. Then again I think that's why they plan to get cannonfodder this time around by the sounds of it. Good job."

Brutish, dark armored figure was heard commenting on rumor...

"Eh? th' Sword Edge been fightin' wit' th' servants o' Bane? ... "

*nods slowly, stroking the bottom of his helmet*

"Good to 'now..."

Aish took a glance towards the Armored Figure.

"Big boy, if you plan to make trouble with them, leave it. It won't end well."
