Sloppy Sign near Eastern Gate of BG

Post by Brokenbone »

Moondark. The ghastly illumination of the trick-sign of the Blade and Stars casts itself over rain-slicked cobbles outside the door of the tavern, which opens to emit a burst of lively sounds of revel from within. A figure lurches out, hulkish and armored, trailed by haranguing voices, calls to use the thundermug at home next time, and not to mistake a prized cookpot in the back for the same.

Looking across the wide mainstreet between gates and the Wide, is the orc-blood Rhaggot, recent evictee from the alehouse, a dim look passing over his shovel-like features, a spark of remembering... something? Through the beer-haze, battled off like a cottony-hided ogre, Rhaggot makes his way to a notice-board beside the courier's offices. Leaning on a post, he rummages successfully among a few scroll tubes, finding a parchment handbill to post, written mostly in hid own childish hand, illustrated through the good offices of a doodling scribe who'd traded a bottle of plonky wine for his skills. He pins it up, and meanders off down the dark rainsoaked alleys homewards.

OOC:
MW shortsword (retail 320)
MW longspear (retail 304)
MW scale armor (retail 200)
Mundane banded armor (retail 250)
Scythe +1 enchanted (retail 2336)
No suggested pricing mentioned on the sign whatsoever, other than "fare" (fair) coinweight. Whatever that means! Find IG or via PMs/tells to find IG if interested...

Scribbled at bottom in runny, rain-damaged ink, "Good maked helms, and a gutfill joolry too."

Nothing else is crossed off the list.

OOC:
+1 concentration helm (retail 100)
+2 concentration helm (retail 400)
Ring of Sustenance (retail 2500)

As stated above, who knows what a "fair" price is, that is for someone to get swindling Rhaggot over when IG or via PMs to meet IG.

The scrawled "Both Heavie and" are blotted over with ink, paint, or maybe based on the brown-ness, gravy.

Absent from the city for some weeks, the increasingly battle-scarred master at arms of the Sword's Edge company posts a square of painted canvas near the Eastgate, perhaps a professional scribe's work or that of some other more dainty-handed auteur than the half-beast. A curious armed courier from the post-company nearby asks what manner of drink would be worth trading from an armsman, Rhaggot answers, "Bunch bottle Al-oorl-yath, it stuff glow, no ken who make. Bunch bottle Oo-laver, it maked by blackhand elvens. Mebbe fancy Manfolk roun' here make drink, show how 'em get rares fer riches."

((OOC - - no prices whatsoever are posted, unless there's an IC way to interpret "showing purse as big as thirst."))

Another sloppy sign, professionally drawn but amateurishly lettered, appears near the eastern roadway leading out of Baldur's Gate. Posted by a half-orc who apparently misunderstands where elven priests care to spend their afterlife, the Tempusman (or half-man) appears to have a tale of how one "Sin-hat" passed to his Warrior's Rest.

OOC - since I don't idle around a lot in game, PM inquiries are fine to figure out IC meet times with "kin or armsmates" (or scammers, necromancers, thieves, PC or NPC) or worst case, play by post like IC PMs.

The sign, quite weatherbeaten, remains posted... although a couple of the bottle-shapes depicted in the illustration have been obscured by large "X" marks, scrawled in charcoal. Other bottle-symbols have not suffered this fate.

The brute Rhaggot has been seen at temple recently, overheard to say things about "big clashes" down "way deep by Sshamath-place," and "got get coinweight, hone alla war-tools fer nex' time."

To that end, observers may note two bottle-shapes remain on a re-posted version of this old handbill. Rhaggot seems to be selling drow liquor, the much sought Ulaver, again.
