Disturbance in the Skies!

Post by SwordSaintMusashi »

Early in the evening, the relative quiet of Baldur's Gate was disturbed by an intense shaking of the entire city. It started as a rumbling, then escalated to a near quake. Onlookers outside their homes or inn were aghast as the twilight sky lit up as it were day, and a massive "tear" in the horizon appeared briefly. Just as suddenly as this phenomenon occurred, however, it ended, the tear in the sky closing. From its place, however, a strange object, bright as a star, streaked across the sky, heading further and further south...until disappearing over the horizon with another rumbling and a bright flash of light...then darkness and silence.

((If anyone finds this location (and you WILL know it when you see it), PM me here on the forums with any rolls you want to make on the scene and I will reply. Otherwise, the scene is set as is, and good hunting.))

Many adventurers and mercenaries were seen to be taking the roads south towards Nashkel on the trail of the "falling star" that streaked south across the sky. Some speculated that a "star stone" or "star metal" had fallen from the skies, and sought it out of curiosity or the promise of great riches. One group traveled all the way to the base of the Cloudpeaks, where they saw something in the distance. A column of smoke perhaps, but hard to tell in the late night gloom ((as per Ronan based on spot rolls)). Most of the adventurers gathered thought the risk of hiking into the mountains at night too great, but one shadowy and solitary figure was seen to pad off into the night gloom after tapping out the contents of his pipe.

Just after dawn a small, shadowy figure returned to Nashkel. Boots sodden, nexalan weed soaked after a dump of snow from a overhanging ledge, and in a generally foul mood, the halfling made for Belching Dragon Tavern.

The angry muttering of "I must be fookin' moontouched headin' up inte them Talos damned toe-freezin' mountains by meself" was taken to mean by some bar patron that the starmetal was, in fact, not located on this particular solo endeavor.

Folks in Naskhel have been peeking into the Shrine of Helm to stare with wild wonder at the frozen and burnt corpse of a creature, never seen before. It was dropped off with instructions and gold to keep it well-preserved till the owner returned.

- Whitewolf travels to Nashkel to deliver a message, but decides while she is there to see this corpse at the temple of Helm out of curiosity. Being a little more bold then the commoner she goes in and looks the body over carefully wondering what i could be. -

(( let me know if any of my knowledge apply in identifying this creature. Nature, Dungeon, Geo. ))
