Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
Shortly after the above rumors circulate, some begin to comment about a tall blond elf who has been going about zealously inquiring about these bodies. It would seem that though the elf expressed some interest and sympathy for the slain, it was apparent that his overriding, apparently morbid interest was in the corpses and the nature of wounds that were found on them.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
The rumours about kobold thieves are lessening alot, only to the occassional talk do one even hear the mention of Kobolds.
Other news is that Talindra, the wood elf ranger has become a wanted woman in Baldurs Gate due to showing disrspect against the Captain Regor of the Flaming fist. Theres a reward of 25 gold pieces upon her which you will gain when capturing her alive. So for, people say that she can undo her crime but apoligizing to the captain or accept ten whips across her back.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
Rumor has it that the Blade and Stars has a new musician that frequents the establishment. Often heard up on the stage strumming a melody and a few chords for tavern goers.
The fact that she hasnt been kicked off or boo'd out of the tavern suggests that the young girl has some talent for the Lute, and it appears that she's only bound to get better.
No word yet on how the Hin Musician from the Blade and Stars has taken the news of another Musician on the block, only time will tell.

Disease strikes in the area around Baldur's east gate and along the river.
A few farm animals have been struk down, strays and even a small number of babys and wanderers. The whispers claim all suffered from a small wound in a fleshy area, a large red dot that ozzed red and black bile. Among the commoners there are talks that a devilish toothy worm parasite might be the sourse of the sickness.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
Rumor has begun circulating that a white haired elf with ruddy complexion and a quiet way about her as been making rounds of the taverns and Inns. She speaks to folk who seem to need an ear, and helps them to come to peace with their troubles.
When asked, she tells them of 'The Way' and offers that "peaceful understanding will heal many wounds of the heart and soul".
Always she returns to the camp of the Selunites along Lion's Way, walking with her staff in hand. Those curious ask why an elf would become a cleric of Selune, to which she replies that she "honors all gods and goddesses as they are due, but hers is The Way, she is not a priestess."
Rumor also is spoken that she has taken odd jobs, and donations for the cause of building a small garden shrine for peaceful meditation and contemplation of The Way. She says that once constructed, she will gladly take students to start them on their path, but claims she is no master, only a student of the world.

some mercenaries and people living by the friendly arms inn can tell the amazing story of two persons, a man with a flaming staff, and a woman with white hair battled not only one, but two gigantic spiders with spells and blades. A halforc passing by was of great help with magic arrows and a brave little hafling warrior assisted them. the hin was sadly killed by one of the huge monsters during the course of battle.
Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
News spreads like wildfire that apparently some brazen murderer (a Banite mercenary known as Barid Mosinel) ended up escaping from his cell deep within the Ducal palace the day that he was scheduled for execution. Rumour has it he slew a half-dozen guards in his daring escape and while dashing through the city also hacked a few merchants to pieces.
His whereabouts are presently unknown -- some say he is hiding still within the city while others claim the Zhentarim secreted him away to a nearby outpost and still others claim that he fell into the river and drowned -- many of the citizens of the city are ensuring their doors are locked in the coming evenings.
All in all, the Dukes are being openly questioned as to how this could happen in the city -- no word as of yet as to what will happen officially but there have been vocal calls for the City Watch cede their responsibilities of overseeing daily affairs in the city to Duke Eltan's Flaming Fist, a far more professional organization.

People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.
Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
A stout, rowdy warrior was heard commenting about the recent news:
"Bah....th' damn bastard wasn' banite.....th' cowerd renounced th' black 'and months ago an' i 'ought an' defeated 'im in a duel after th' donkey dung 'ad th' guts to speak against th' black lord near me...
Th' servants o' th' black 'and 'r law bidin' folks , people aroun' should be smarter 'an to take such false lies fer truths...
If i'll meet th' bastard again i won' spare 'is life twice..."
The warrior ordered another drink and moved on to complain about elves.

Dragon attack in Ulgoth's Beard!
News spreads quickly of dragon attack in Ulgoth's Beard, which set at least one farmhouse ablaze and claimed many lives.
Anyone travelling to the hamlet would see the wreckage of a single farmhouse and five newly-dug graves. Locals would cast accusatory glances towards the Banite keep to the north, and speak of a travelling couple who saved the one remaining Moriston child, their daughter Jenni.
Several locals would claim to have heard the beast's wings, and the town's lighthouse keeper would say it returned to the west after the attack.
People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
A bedraggled and strange band of one human, one halfling, one gnome, and one dwarf landed an elvish-made riverboat in Baldur's Gate harbor.
Supposedly thing vessel was leaking so much through a gash in her port hull that barely a few inches of gunnel remained visible above the water by the time they made dock.
The ship herself, Meemam'la Ciwa is said to be a real beauty and for a river runner will be an impressive vessel once repaired.
Word has it that only one of her original crew survived a drow raid on the Chionthar.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
Many talk about the random new graffity being written across town in red paint. Simple letters of Chaundathan styled script.
"The red death was just the beginning."
"When murder is murdered, does it not simply change shape?"
"Red red red red red red".
What does it mean? Nobody is sure but many theorizes.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
Word has spread through the areas around Beregost of a theft from the highly protected, and sanctified temple of the Lathanderian's. It is said that the thief killed many guards in his escape. Rumors abound as to the thief's identity and if the attempt was successful or not. The predominant opinion is that he was trapped in the cloak wood, by a group of adventurers, and the stolen property was returned. Yet, there is a small minority of ale drinking rumor mongers that hold the thief got away in a small boat.
As a group discusses the incident in your favorite tavern you hear:
"I saw em...a whole group standin around waitin for somethin near their boat not too far in the cloakwood. I just wanted to catch some of them fish for they got too far near the sewage, but once I saw that group...I turned right around and run!"

As you walk across the streets of Beregost and even Baldur's Gate it is impossible not to notice that the population seems shocked. In each corner, tavern, groups of peasants gather to listen and discuss as they hear the news.
"It is true I saw it with my uwn eyes!!! *the man pales* Dare he was with fangs and all a vampure no less, with a stake through his heart and then he walked among the living. *Those gathered around the man comment and shiver at the description of the event*"
"Sawyn is the name of the bugger, me not believe these things, the morrow he will enter your window maybe mine, and feed on us!!"
"Great news my dear friends, a warrior and friend has returned to us. The curse broken and renewed hope to fight the evils of this land is what I say. The Elf is an unmatched archer, the kind that turns the tide in a battle"
The townsfolk keep on debating the situation some happy, some not so confident.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
Gossip and banter amongst many tavern patrons and street merchants have begun to follow a similar topic.
"That 'Mist' is back in town, I 'ear. Word is she's more piss'd than 'fore." The sailors of the Blushing Mermaid shudder with the thought.
"Always liked her name," a bathhouse visitor smiles, "Lay-ah-lee? It would fit perfectly here!"
"One moment, the bitch is sputterin' in nonsensical common," a dwarf spits to his side, smirking, "now she's startin' to make sense. Aye, is a welcomed change alright."
A hood figure speaks amidst shady individuals by an alley. "She cut a good yellow tin, iffin I recall. Was quick to hush with a pig poker too. A good purse collector to never get snapt -- good thing she visited the neighbours so often, eh?" They all begin to grin widely with yellow, rotten teeth.
While all the banter is related to one person, the question that is curious on everyone's mind -- is she worth the talk and trouble of discussing? To those who have met her, some would often say yes with utter disdain. To those who are berrani? Well... one thing is for certain: Layali Mae, the Mist, has returned from her voyage and more active in the city than ever before.
