Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
A great deal of commotion was seen in the docks district of Baldur's Gate today. Swarms of city watch and even Flaming Fists were seen taking out bodies of well-armed men and women from a nondescript house next to Oleg's Fishmarket. The city watch make no comment on what occurred but rumor has it it was a secret base of Amnian mercenaries, in the city to sow discontent and disorder.
People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

Ominous howls are heard from the southern end of the cloakwood, travellers reaching Friendly Arm Inn swear blind they saw animals walking as men. Though nobody has been hurt.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
Rumour quickly circulates of a fight just outside Baldur's Gate Eastgate. The fist got involved by it seems just a little too late as a body was removed from the scene. The body looked to be a foreigner, a few might even recognise his burned corpse as that of Misshepeshu
A hin was seen being walked away by Flaming Fist Mercenaries, in shackles. Those that know the hin name him as Xeth and it now seems he is being held at the Flaming Fist Compound.
A trial is set to be held at the Ducal Palace, the presiding judge is one Duke 'Regal' Sundercliff.
((trial will be held monday or tuesday at 7pm BST (8pm gmt) depending on Players involved))

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
One of the city watch was killed today as an armored man burst forth from the Elfsong tavern, then transforming into a hulking creature and digging itself an escape from the rallying guards, right by the East gate.
The watch are reassuring everyone that there is nothing to fear and the situation is in control.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
Some stories filter out of the area near the Friendly Arm Inn. Apparently Bently Mirroshade, the proprieter, hired three mercenaries, a human woman in plate, a gnome in armor light armor with a shield, and a halfing, to look into some troll-issues near and around the Cloakwood. The trio set off after about 20 minutes of discussion. They weren't gone very long and returned, apparently none too worse for the wear with breastplates from, what they claimed was too trolls.
Also, the woman had a massive fang of some creature. The trio described it as a "spider the size of a house." This discussion took place solidly in the middle of the common room and no attempt at discression was made.
The trio was apparently well paid and the gnome and woman set off for the GAte while the halfing went upstairs to sleep.

Travelers walking the way of the lion would hear tell of a ghastly sight by the road, the severely burned remains of a very large ogre and what may have been either a large man or half orc were left propped right near the road. Rumor has it that it was the work of a dark clad figure.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
The commons of Feldepost's Inn at Beregost was treated to the spectacle of a grievously wounded gnome, his jawbone and no end of teeth set to ruin by what a fellow gnome and two heavily outfitted fortune-seekers averred was a mighty broadaxe, ogre-wielded.
The tale unwound before a servant of the Morninglord, kindly called by the publican, of a few disabled vinters' wagons and a gang of ogres leading the horses away for stewing, the merchants, outriders or other guards scarce to be seen. While the gang met merciless ends and were left for crows-bait, a mighty latecomer to the fray sought blood-for-blood in vengeance, and nearly had it.
It is unclear how the ogre and the quartet quit the field, though apparently the ogre lives, just as does the face-cloven gnome.
The holy man tending the gnome had harsh words about the Stormbites, apparent sponsors of the caravan, and their lamentable scrimping on adequate men-at-arms on a known stretch of hard road some leagues north of Beregost. Apparently a just fee for wounds-binding, though unable to restore shattered teeth and bone, would be sought from the Stormbites whose negligence and parsimony Father Richar decried in the taproom.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
Tales tell of a group concerned with the welfare of travel and trade alone the Trade Way. The rumors say the group was made up of Thayans and that they set in motion a plan to ambush a mighty two-handed axe wielding ogre that has been plaguing the roads for well over a month. With the assistance of the Temple of Lathander the ogre and his band of thugs where put down and safety was restored to the Trade Way…for now.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
Rumor has it a group of adventures dug up some object of power in an overgrown ruin north of the Cloakwood hills. Shortly thereafter, a group of over a dozen bugbears and a few ogres displaced them, killing a two of their number. Its unknown whether or not they made it out with the object.
The adventurers warn the bugbears were well-equipped, and lead by a powerful shaman who conjured a dire wolf to fight them.
(( The encounter is set up, and loot is placed. Be careful. Bugbears are known for their ambushes ))

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
Rumour has it that a band of adventurers went to cleanse the Cloakwood ruins of the undead. However this was some time ago, and there has been no sign of them since. With their good intent, some have become worried that something might have happened to them, despite them being seasoned adventurers.
((Loot and spawns are set... It's made clear the adventurers were rather skilled, certainly not novices - if you form a party and no DM is about, take that into account))

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
A group of adventurers were seen in Gullykin and Beregost. Two humans and a gnome pulled a cart with what appeared to be a very well-bound and blindfolded but still-living basilisk on the back. Some people say there were two or three gnomes, and others say one of the gnomes was petrified.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
The last few days have seen a fair amount of odd activity in the East Harbor district. And abandoned warehouse was cleaned out by a woman and three men wearing various armors. These same people were seen later talking to what seemed to be building contractors and workers in and around the same warehouse, located near the Sewers entrance and the Moonshae boat pier.
It's not exactly clear what's going on at this point, but all four individuals sported Tempus holy symbols.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
The construction in the East Harbor is apparently continuing at a quick pace. The warehouse in question being worked on is now apparently having some of the walls torn down and replaced with somesort of stone. The workers, when asked in their off hours seem to have issues deciding what exactly they're building. Some say a temple, some say some sort of trading business, yet others say a tavern.

Re: Tavern Tales and Rumours
The mercenary Voric Mael was seen hobbling in to the Friendly Arms Inn badly burned -- armor scorched and blackend and skin red and blistered. Before being healed by one of the patrons, he was heard outside uttering murderous oathes of revenge against some gnomish wizard.
