Silverymoon Quiet Again

The city of Silverymoon seems to have settled into an uneasy state of quasi-normality since the alarms on the palace. It is impossible not to notice that the presence of the Spellguard seems to have been stepped up. Nor is it possible to miss the patrols beating the fields between Silverymoon and outlying settlements, or the sweeps of Knights in Silver that seem to be active within the walls of the city at all hours. Some of the rougher taverns in town have been surprised of late by visitors in gleaming silver armor and grim expressions...and some of the tavern patrons with shadier histories have been asked very specific questions about their whereabouts on the night of the palace alarms. Rumors, of course, flit like bats in a dark cave, and the name of the Masked God has been spoken aloud by frightened citizens who have had run-ins before with thieves in black sashes. The Knights seem very focused on any connection to these Shadow Swords.

However, although these military operations seem to go on as a response to whatever attack disturbed the Palace, nothing new breaks the peace. A memorial for a fallen Spellguard recently posted at the Lady's College and reputed to have had something to do with defending against the palace attack has been held in private solemnity it was rumored, and the body interred in the catacombs. King Emerus of the dwarves marched into town supported by a small band of grim-faced, elite dwarven warriors, but after only a few hours closeted in the Palace, he marched out again. It is unknown whether this visit was related to the palace alarm, or to something else entirely. As Marshall Aerasume rode in from Rauvenwatch Keep at the same time, a connection there seems likely, although why Warcrown would need to know about the rumored purpose of the Marshall's visit -- to brief the palace on a Legion exercise north of Quaervarr -- is a mystery.

To the average person on the street, who is merely relieved that martial law has been lifted from the city, the fragmented rumors mean little but a topic of speculation over an ale.
