Vault of the Sages

Post by danielmn »

One Garlus Ironbeard has been seen in furious study within the convines of the upper level of the house of sages. The dwarf has been seen to study texts tirelessly for days without sleep, oft writing down information from books onto pages of paper. The only time the dwarf has been sen leaving is breifly, always coming back with large parcels of food and drink, whereapon he will sit down once again to peruse the volumes of books sprawled out before him. The aroma of unwashed dwarf, as well as the incessent muttering coming from his table grew so strong, that Keeper Haliver himself was wont to tell the dwarf to leave for rest and a bath, but Ironbeard was seen to leave the Vault in such a hurry, Haliver had not the time to even say the word sir. Upon the table Garlus studied at sat many tombs upon history and monstroloy...and the one Garlus left open before leaving of the infernal.

Leif Saetre, known as Leif the wanderer has been seen on near a regular basis, browsing books in the vault. Scribes watch in amusement as he seems to spend nearly as much time looking through the shelves as actually reading. Attendants of the vault whisper to the scribes that the northlander is reading books on topics ranging from the Draconic language, to the Time of Troubles, to Elminster the Sage.

Despite the fact that it is not an unheard of thing in the realms, many of the scribes find it peculiar and nearly endearing that such a large warrior seems so interested in such eclectic topics. Leif, for his part, is rather polite and soft spoken while in the vault, emitting only amusing "ooh"s and "ahh"s occasionally.
