.... in the early morning, before the sun had climbed enough to remove the mist, a group of stern looking Felbarr dwarfs in high polished armor was seen pass along the main road outside the big city. In the middle of this group was three far older cloakdressed dwarfs, each carryin a standard showing the sign of the hammer and anvil, the two crossed axes and two interlocked rings.

outside one of silvermoons gates a few boys together with their fathers who was helping the traders repair wheels on their wagons in anticipation of the upcoming boom of metaltrade followed the quiet group and returned many hours later
spreading words that the dwarfs had walked up to the huge gates of Mithril hall where they together with some greycolored Mithrilguards had lit a huge bonfire before entering leaving the gate alone and closed in the cold air.

As the boys had turned realizing nothing more would likely happen and feeling cold from the mountainwind they heard the dull sound of monotone bells echoed out throu the many vallys...

One of the trader kneeled down and told the boys; remember the returning knights yesterday, how folks celibrated and how the priests cared for the few who could not walk home to their familys.... the dwarfs mourn the fallen in their own way and Im proud you decided to not linger, first its not safe to be up there but more importantly.. it had not been the right way you see..

Word is given to Gatewarden Captain Stonehallow to beware longshadows arriving with papers with claims of dwarf-friend by the recent arrival of Clan Stonehand. Word quickly spreads through Felbarr that an elf was found dead upon the Pass, among his belongings papers supposedly signed by Warcrown himself. The papers are under grave suspicion by Samman Alyra of the Ironbeards, and currently in her possession. It is suggested that all nonkin bearing such papers be asked to produce the name or names of kin in good standing that will vouch for them.

Other words spread in Felbarr, of a mysterious stoneskinned female whom has taken to killing wolves that are coming down from the peaks in their winter migration. It is said the woman even laid low ice giants and the great White Wargs within the low pass.

Beneath the celebrations of Felbarr's recent victory in combination with March forces, and undertone of disquieting dissatisfaction can be heard. In some corners, it involves yet more papers found, presumably coming from the Bard's College in Silverymoon, on which is attached the supposed signature of Emerus Warcrown. There are murmerings of marching down to Silverymoon itself, and dragging the person responsible out of the college and back to Felbarr to face the Justice of King Warcrown personally.

Still other dissatisfaction in other corners is whispered, that a visit from Samman Ironbeard has revealed that an elf from the lowlands, wanted for crimes against the Confederacy, had been hoarding Delzoun artifacts found in the tunnels uncovered within the last year. There are strong words, including many voices cursing elves, especially after the recent find of an elf body on the Pass whom was in possession of the papers discussed above. Two elven betrayels in as many rides has many kin with jaw set.

Lastly, word spreads like fire that a Duergar prisoner was brought to The Hammer, Demanding to speak with Warcrown himself, and generally insulting kin at every turn. Many are wondering, after the recent wars with the Duergar, why this lone one is even allowed to yet breath, let alone talk to the King.

(( FWIW I think some NPCs within Felbarr knew what the elves had done in Delzoun, and why. Maer never got a chance to tell the Faenor due to DM availability, but she hinted that she knew after their last conversation. A full "confession" would probably be in his will, which I can type out if need be. I hadn't expected to need it, so I think I made some mistakes in what I told SSM.

Edit: FWIW mean For Whatever Its Worth; I am trying to relay information that may not be known by any active DMs. Take it however you will. Dwarven NPCs were told of what the elves were doing in Delzoun nearly a year ago, when there were no active Felbar PCs. I can provide details if DMs wish. ))

The grumblings of the dwarves of Felbarr are growing louder. For many days now a gray dwarf, known to be a prisoner and a blasphemer, has been allowed to make camp unfettered within' the walls of the Hammer of the Citadel.

"What in the hells they jus' lettin' that duergar camp in the Hammer fer?!"

" I'd jus' take his head an' get it over wit', yep!"

"AYE! Take its head!"

Some of the less militant of the dwarf kin have mentioned that if the duergar is going to remain it might be best to lock it away from public view....for its own safety.

A wager of 20 gold coins and a cask of ale has been made as to how long the creature will survive unmolested before a vigilante kills it in its sleep. The bet is at greater or less than one ride.

The dwarf labored with difficulty up the trail from Felbarr, the weight of the body of friend and kin slowing each step. He winced as the winded whipped through the pass making his eyes tear up even more.

As he made the Hammer, the outermost guardpost of Citadel Felbarr he was spotted by the dwarf guards who quicly made their way to aid Kelnar with his burden.

The fallen dwarf was wearing a green cloak and tunic red-stained from chew leaf, his quiver empty and cracked. The body of Ardton Stonehand was placed upon a nearby cart and borne to the citadel. Kelnar followed the hasty procession helplessly and glum as it made its way into the dwarven fortress.

"So few kin already. Each fallen cousin be like a nail in me gut, but Ardton was stout and true ...... an' a Stone Brother."

The remains of Ardton Stonehand of High Home were set to their final rest in stone at Citadel Felbarr.

To honor his legacy, he was set to the deep with a number of worked hides and furs including prized pelts of winter wolfs. His travel gear was placed alongside him along with a large tin of the red chew leaf of which he was so fond.

There was some delay in the funerary rites while a number of his kin discussed the possibilty of returning the dwarf's body to his island homeland across the sea. In the end, however it was decided that "kin be kin, stone be stone, an' the All Father watches all wheree'er we take our final sleep."

Word spread fast through the guard of Mithril Hall at Settlestone, of a kinsman escourted by humans, elves and a hin, reporting to check on the progress of the rebuilding of Settlestone. Whispers abound that he is a Holy Axe of Gorm from the Citadell Adbar.

A trade caravan painfully creaks its way up to the gate of Felbar. They spread word of at least two shivering ogres in the Silverymoon pass.

Encounter set! - Suitable for at least one experienced dorf + company.

A lone halfling recently stepped out of the darkness at the Felbarr terminus of low road, presenting himself in peace and asking for passage into the halls from below.

He claims to have travelled many leagues alone, though some of the dwarves doubt the truth of the claim.

After being escorted out from the secured lower areas of Citadel Felbar by Faenor Hornblower, a dark clad halfling has laid out hid bedroll among the other traders.

The halfling, going by the name "Hully", has been doing his best to make friendly with the dwarfs, buying ales for as many as he can while he stays in the Westmarket.

Rumors in Felbarr speak of a rather motley crew of adventurers that passed through the Citadel less than a Tendays ago; the leader of the group reportedly was somewhat less than polite and wore out his welcome shortly after their business in the marketplace was done. Some grumble that the group likely would've been shown the door if it weren't for the fact that there one of their number was a dwarf, but others say they were honest and generous enough with their coin and not the worst sort.

Delnius Frostbeard has been heard passing on the word that before their departure one of the members of the crew, a large barrel chested human, offered a reward for the recovery of a ring marked with the symbol of Tempus.

"Bah! I had no likin' fer the leader o' that pack, some kind o' finger wagglin' mage or such and a boastful talker he was," Delnius was heard saying. "And one or two o' the others left me feelin' cold, but the barrel chested longlegger was alright, jest too quiet and grim faced. I says ta myself, tis jest a silly longlegger's ring, but when I sees the look in the feller's eyes as he tells o' how important it be ta him... somethin' about his look near made me want ta tell 'im I'd go fetch it fer him meself."

"Problem is... the boastin' mage's talk about someday findin' dwarven artifacts and such in the ruins o' Old Delzoun... he pissed off everyone that overheard and ensured the lot o' them would be watched closely til they were long gone... and I'll wager that's why the feller can't go lookin' fer his ring now, and needs someone from Felbarr ta go snooping around the northwest tunnel."

The night was bitter cold, though Selune shone a pale, melancholy light over the snow covered area.

Some distance away, the sounds of deep, resonant, yet icy cold voices could be heard boasting proudly. Massively heavy footfalls accompanied by thunderous laughter provided accompaniment to the voices.

The laughter was not warm.

A massive pale hand reached down into the snowdrift, searching. A few minutes later, unaffected by the cold snow, great fingers curled around a small trinket that had been overlooked by the looters; with the other hand working, frozen snow that had been stained deep black-scarlet began to be brushed off of the object. Eyes that flickered faintly of a golden hue examined the tiny item, before it was tucked away.

It had clearly belonged to a dwarf.

Somewhere in the realm of Dwarfhome, far, far away from the cold and harsh mortal lands of the North, servants of the Soul Forger began to prepare a welcome of great honor. A daughter of Moradin had fallen bravely in mighty battle against the foes of the Stout Folk, and her spirit would need to be ushered in properly Under the Ancient Mountain.

It was a good death for a dwarf.

Zombies, often a concern at Fourthpeak have been increasing. Also it seems that many of the walking dead are animated gnolls.

The guard of Mithril Hall has been grumbling about "having to kill the damned things twice!"
