... strode up the gangplank to the first mate's desk. The mate glanced up from his ledger taking the measure of the man: well oiled and worn black leathers, black cloak and hood drawn low, an exotic eastern blade slung high at his left hip.
" A Banite" thought the mate to himself, "Mebbe even one a 'dose cursed Zhents. Either way trouble fer certain." Ah there was nothing for it. With war threatening the Gate, commerce had slowed to a standstill, and gods new who the Captain had begged or bribed to allow them passage to Waterdeep. "Refuse no one passage" were his explicit instructions.
With a sigh the mate licked the tip of his quill, "Name?" "Corio D'Sarte" spoke the cloaked figure, in a soft voice like a dagger drawn from its sheathe. "Home port?" asked the mate as he scribbled the man's name. "Luskan." spoke the shadowy figure his eyes blazing slightly with some hidden fire as he did so.
"Wonderful" thought the mate "prolly a bloody pirate." He looked the man up and down gesturing with his quill to the exotic blade at his hip and the wicked looking recurve bow slung across his shoulders. " I reckon ye know 'ow ta use 'dose Day-sar-tay?" The dark man regarded him with a cold stare "Pray you never have to find out" he said in reply.
The mate lowered his quill a frown creasing his brow and his anger rising as he met the rogue's eyes. The look they conveyed was cold. Cold as the deepest sea. Cold as death. Feeling a shiver up his spine, the mate merely grunted, then mumbled something to himself. "Drop yer coin in da box 'dere. We shove off fer Waterdeep wit da risin tide wit ye or witout." With a gesture so subtle it made the mate blink the shadowy figure produced a bag of coin dropping it into the box with a muffled "chink."
"Next!" grumbled the mate. The shadow turned to depart then looked back to the mate, "What's this tub called, Captain" sarcasm dripping from his voice. "Tub?" said the mate annoyed, then glancing to the man's sword thought better of it, "Dis 'ere's no tub Luskar. Dis be da Spirit Vixen, an don ye fergit it. Hmmph." A smile began to tug at the corner of the man's mouth as he turned back down the gangplank to the dock, there to await the rising tide.
((And so Corio D'Sarte leaves Baldur's Gate and the Silver Marches, to what uncertain fate only the gods know. I have played Corio for almost two years now, and have decided to retire him and move on to another character. Those who have RPd with me know the IC reasons for his departure, and the OOC reasons I am moving on to another concept. The amazing RP I have enjoyed with this character made the decision to retire him a difficult one. I want to thank a few players who really helped shape his story: Mick in the play of his PC Dawn Shiningeye; Danielmn as Garlus; and more recently Swift as Zalanthe. I also want to thank DMs Regas, JLM, Cloud and Sandermann for endless hours of RP that no one else on the server ever knew was happening. =) Playing a PC like Corio takes a lot of DM support, and I got plenty. Thanks guys.)))

I'm saddened I only got to meet him briefly with my first character as I heard and read many stories about him. Looking forward to your next character for sure.
Current PC: Olaf - The Silver Marches

I've relished both Thoron and Corio. I am looking forward to see what kind of character you'll break from the great stone of PC's next.
