Re: Tavern knowledge - post your rumours and gossip here
A massive force of Argent legion assaulted the caves and glens above Rivermoot. Witnesses gossip in awe at the ferocity and merciless nature of the assault. It is said that not a single prisoner was taken and that old, young, injured, and females were slaughtered with no quarter offered or given.
As the campaign wound down and the legionaries began to regroup in Rivermoot, many of the members were heard to boast that their victory was an honour to their illustrious General Irizarry.

A hooded stranger sips his ale while lisetning to the locals singing the praises of the Legion, and as they put it thier Illustrious General Irizarry. His hand grips the hilt of his sword his knuckles turning white, downs the last of his ale and slams the mug down hard on the table, then rises. "What kind of people are you"... he rages.. "you cheer and sing the praises of a killer of women and children and the injured.." ..." he walks to the door the room is silent.." Ill have nothing to do with this town or its people" he glares around the room opens the door and is gone into the night.

Days after the battles above Rivermoot, after the pyres of the dead have burned low, Argent bodies are still being pulled from the hills for porper burial.

Word spread at the Anglers Inn in Rivermoot that brigands appear to have taken the place of the orcs and goblins in the hills above Rivermoot. Wearing Legion uniforms these men attacked two women who had hired them for safe transport between Settlestone and Rivermoot. Luckily, a band of irregulars saved the two women from their fate. More bandits are reported to be wandering the hills, any traveler going into the hills is advised to go well armed, and with company they know.

Rathalan Whitsword recently Rivermoot for the first time in some number of tendays. He reportedly dropped a number Argent Legion uniforms at the feet of Lieutenent Pomador, saying they had been worn by highwaymen near the Fourthpeak outpost. The uniforms supposedly were badly damaged, huge claw marks rending many of the suits.
The Helmite stated he would remain in the village at least one more day until the caravan to which he was assigned departed. He can be found toanswer Legion questions in the tavernhouse.

Some patrons of The Golden Oak tavern in Silverymoon are convinced that Rathalan Whitsword is having mental troubles.
Recently he was seen to have draw his blade and wave it wildly about while shouting vengeance against some unseen creature or person.
He was apparantly quieted by the proprietors.
The priest of Helm was insistent that a masked soreceress and known murderer is dogging is his steps and had been inside the tavern just moments before his outburst.

Re: Tavern knowledge - post your rumours and gossip here
Just after dawn a somewhat short, muscular, and very bloody figure appears on the trail leading down from the Fourthpeak Vale trail, limping heavilly on a roughly bandaged leg, still dripping blood from several visibly fresher wounds and carrying a large assortment of weapons strapped to his pack. Hood low, he makes his slow, painful way over to Lt. Pomador's tent and reportedly talked with him at length about a rescue of brigand captives up in the Fourthpeak caves and the successful capture of one of the brigands. Despite what sounded like quite a few close calls with the brigands and the gnolls whos cave they unwisely chose to usurp for their purpose and who had come to retake the place, and finally an attack from two sides by the pair of Uthgardt tribes while heading to the Legion outpost by the Tower of the Star entrance, he was successful in reaching the Legionaires with his prisoner. It seems the brigands were dealt a rather nasty blow by those very gnolls, losing many of the force occupying their cave, including the commander who'd reportedly been decked out in stolen sergeant's regalia and rank insignia.
According to those close enough to overhear the conversation, while discussing the report later, over ales at the Angler's, it appears that the brigand was nearly slain and despite the severity of his own wounds, the bloodied warrior would not let his prisoner die of the wounds he received while in his custody and forced him back to his feet with a combination of quick action with a healing potion and quite probably righteous rage at coming so close to his destination and being unwilling to be foiled by a bunch of stinking barbarians. The brigand, more dead than alive, was then questioned and once the Legion post commander was done with him, led back to Settlestone to face justice for the crimes committed against their citizens by him and his fellows. The man's final fate can only be speculated, as it seems the gravely wounded warrior turned back to Rivermoot, not even stopping to rest and dress his wounds, before he could discover what form of justice the chieftain of Settlestone could impose.
The inn's houseboy reported later that he'd been paid a fistful of gold to ask the Tyrian priest if he could come and ease some of the battered warrior's wounds before requesting food and drink be sent up to him at mealtimes until further notice. Nothing more was heard or seen of the battler for several days other than a pile of empty dishes and bloodied bed linens layed outside the door morn and eve.

Two bandits were brought to justice in Rivermoot after being apprehended by some brave adventurers near the High Bridge. It is rumoured that Lemuel Ogdenstorm, Dawn Shiningeye, and some lesser well known but no less valiant adventurers caught the bandits in the act of slaying an elven maiden.
It is also rumoured that Lt. Pomador was uncharacteristically merciful at the urging of Lemuel, and that he allowed the murderers a chance to hang, rather than by scourged unto death if they chose to tell the truth.
One was scourged in the town square, one was mercifully hanged for his crime.

A large, burly half orc was seen leaving the House Invincible establishment as he slammed the doors behind him in anger. The half orc was cursing, spitting and growling at all those he encountered on his way to the southern city parts.

A body clad in fine (yet torn) purple robes was carried into the grand temple of Lathander in Silverymoon, by a large soldier-like figure and a shorter female. They were heard speaking of two who fell to a large bear while walking in the mountains.

Rathalan Whitsword is near fully recovered from the attack where he was near mortally wounded by ogres not far from Rivermoot.
Even with the steady ministrations of Knight Errant Chernov and Just Father Arclight, the priest took a number of days to revoer to the point where he could leave hisbed and partake in the holy devotions to Helm.

Re: Tavern knowledge - post your rumours and gossip here
The Rivermoot community is chattering about a recent murder in the smithy's shop. It seems a recalcitrant female half-orc brained a human male, was apprehended by Lemuel Ogdenstorm, and hanged by the Legion for her crime. Arleshan and Balcones both seem a bit shaken by the event, and it is rumoured the orcess was hung without having given testimony at her justice procedure.
Most seem folk to feel justice was well served, but some of the local half-orcs seem less than pleased.
