Meeting at the Golden Oak
It was a quiet night, the sky was clear and the full moon made the highway almost as clear as it would be during the day… at least for the elven ranger walking the path leading to Silverymoon beside Rauvinwatch. Sywyn crossed SilveryMoon’s gate with a bag filled with goods, he was in hope to still find the weaponsmith open, after all during the past months since his arrival to the Marches, it was there where Sywyn had found the best deals. As he approached the door a smile came to his face, it was still open, the sound of the hammer molding the blazing steel could be heard in the streets, and it was much warmer inside.
“Hello Helios. How have you been?” Sywyn greeted Optym’s Blade owner as he entered
“Hello Sywyn. What do you carry in there?” Answered Helios with a smile already knowing the purpose of the late visit
Sywyn smiled and lifts a bag “Well I have here some goods you might be interested in; some need repair, but after your magic I'm sure they will sell for a good amount”
They both negotiated the goods for sometime, once again Sywyn was pleased in the end and so was Helios. Soon it was time to leave; it was late and Helios still had some work to finish before he could leave the shop. Distractions are not allowed when you work in weapon-smithing and have your clients used to a high standard in every single piece for sale in that store.
As Sywyn left the shop, he felt once again the power and magic of the full moon touching his face and he smiled. This would be a good night, one of those nights where old friends gather, drink and dance, and listen to old stories and tales of the elders. As he looked around he knew where to go. The Golden Oak of course would be his destination. Inside the walls Sywyn never felt comfortable, the houses growing from the ground like ugly lifeless trees, the polluted streets and the noise that made it impossible to listen to the beautiful sounds of the wildlife.
The Golden Oak was full; many thought the same way as Sywyn. However, there was one special face among all of those in the atrium…
Sywyn smiled “Laniara… its been a long time”
“Indeed Sywyn, long time since we have last met, how have you been? Please take a sit..”
They spoke for sometime, there was much to catch up, Sywyn was happy to know that Lan had finally finished her course at the academy and was know a Wizardress, her emerald eyes and soft smile always made Sywyn’s heart softer, her company and her wisdom was always something he enjoyed, and finding her this night was indeed a good surprise for him.
Sywyn was looking for someone to enchant his longbow and was slightly surprised when Lan offered herself to do it, he wasn’t aware she could do it, and was obviously pleased with the offer, Andiron another elf, joins them at this point when they were discussing the enchantment of the longbow and the best ways to achieve it, which at this point involved contacting a priest of Solonor at Everdusk Hall to make sure the bless of the Seldarine would be cast upon the elven weapon.
Sudenly three elves friends were gathered in a place where many other cousins around them, drank, spoke and enjoyed the calm evening, for a moment Sywyn, missed his home, and shared his thoughts with Lan and Andiron.
“Hyacinthe used to speak about some lost outpost in the nearby woods, I am still to have a hint on its location, Im not even sure it is real… But I have been seeking it, I miss a place to call home, and SilveryMoon sure ain’t that place..”
Lan smiled and nods her head “I too would like to find such a place Sywyn, maybe it is something we should pursue.. what do you know about this place?
Andiron listened quietly giving his opinion from time to time, Lan and Sywyn kept talking, and debating in how to find more information about this place, Laniara finally was left in charge to schedule a meeting with the High Priest of Everdusk, and possibly to seek in the huge library for a possible location of the lost elven outpost.
The three elves stood there for sometime and finally left the Golden Oak with a smile on their faces, this uncalled meeting could have been the beginning of a great adventure, one that could maybe, lead them to a dream, a place to call home!
