A Land Far Away

Okay, first I want to say that I am loving ALFA; however, I am having some extremely long load times and I don't know why. When I say load times, this includes starting conversations, opening things, etc. AND loading new areas.

I have completely cleaned my PC (I have a regime I go through weekly including looking at new startup programs, cleaning the registry, and defragmenting among other things). Here are my system specs:

AMD 3400+
Windows XP SP 3
17 GB Free on the HD
2 GB of RAM
Virtual Memory 4049 MB (I don't remember setting this... this may need to be fixed)
ATI Radeon X1650/1600 512MB

Any ideas?

I saw you on tonight. There was a significant amount of lag for at least some of the time that you were on, so it might not be you. Try again tomorrow to see if you are still having the same problem.

Oh...and welcome to ALFA!

Your machine seems to outweigh mine, so I doubt that's the issue.

Same here, but it is exactly that which makes us more paranoid isn't it?

Windows is generally best left to its own devices, when it comes to virtual memory.

ALFA has some unusual systems running, with regards to its shared character vault and permanent storages. Frankly, we're prone to lag and some days it's just worse than others. Try sending someone an OOC [tell] and ask them if they have the same experiences. If you're the only one... well, then perhaps the problem lies at your end after all.

Thank you so much. I'll give it a whirl today. I have a feeling it just might be the lag on ALFA's end. I'll report after a gaming session today.
