This is probably another timing issue. The server host will have to do some backend magic to fix it. Otherwise if you wait while logged in, it may fix itself.

I reset the server today so maybe that will fix it.

perhaps not so much bugs, as things that make very little sense on bg:

- one can not purchase fishing gear any more (no goggles at temple of gond), however, there's a fishermen soliciting players to go fishing. furthermore, most areas where people went fishing have been removed, leaving one, the cave on sword coast, that still requires the missing fishing gear to enter.

- cloakwood cave on lower level is suspiciously abandoned. one really would expect the big bad goblins to have a party down there, but it's empty at all times as far as i can tell.

- ulgoths beard. locals apparently aren't aware of banites taking up residence and are still sending one off to some ruins to do exploring. which of course now is the banite hold...

- captain luigi vampa (yay to fans of count mote cristo!) is sending people off to sacrifice a pig, but then refuses to let them board the ship to marches for the favor done, and is still requiring pay.

- on stroke of midnight.. err... 6am.. big bad spawns in your line of sight simply vanish. somewhat confusing, alas this one may be just the way spawn system works. have not seen this on other two servers though.

Trying to make it to TSM on the cheap

Luigi Vampa offers a the "get a pig" option.

When return with the properly prepped and sacrificed pig and re-initiating dialogu, the script fires to take the item, but does not port you onto the ship, leaving the PC to pay full price as the only remaining option.

causk wrote:Had some issues with invisible and untargetable NPCs and hostiles today. Using a summon spell, oddly made them reappear with the summoned creature now being invisible and untargetable. After a few minutes the issue resolved itself, so i am uncertain if it can be replicated at will and/or is a common occurance.

relogging seemed to fix the issue.
This. Very annoying, especially when trying to run a session. About every ten minutes it would happen for everyone again. Relogging fixed, then ten minutes later it would happen again.

This is the same clock skipping bug that was causing problems a while back with wvincente's host- seems to be tied to virtualization and older CPUs (using WinXP guest OS's). Should hopefully be gone once we move BG to faster hosting (hopefully later this week).

(and as for why clock issues lead to invisible/untargetable PCs, NPCs, summons, the answer is complicated and has to do with how NWN2 handles that window of time between when it decides a creature should be in an area, and when that area actually finishes loading clientside for the player controlling it.)

  • Several items dropped by Goblins and other monsters have zero value, in violation of the pricing guidelines and thus skewing the reported wealth of PCs using them:
    • Heavy Shield, Humanoid (at least two different kinds)
    • Spear, Humanoid
    • Morningstar, Humanoid
  • The "Brokenshield Goblin Warrior" holds a weapon or shield that has no model, so it looks like one of its hands is a Jack-in-the-box instead.

Well, they're worth less than 1 gp as they're mostly just improvised weapons.

How are we to record this, exactly?

Actually, improvised weapons have a -4 attack penalty in PnP.

I imagine the gear has been made worthless to prevent farming, but in that case it would have been easier to have the monsters drop (next to) nothing at all. A Heavy Shield is still a Heavy Shield: I sold mine when I got a "free" goblin shield, so to my character it was the equivalent of a one-time, two dozen gp drop. A toon could probably own and use up to 75gp worth of monster gear, and still show up as owning nothing when queried with the DM wand.

Record what?

not to derail anything, but is this really a problem? 75gp wealth discrepancy merits a conversation and a bug fix? we must be pretty damn close to having fixed everything else...

That's not for me to decide. I report the bugs, the server team gets to prioritise (or ignore ;)) them.

If bug reports aren't welcome, I can keep them to myself too. It's no skin off my nose, and I really don't think ALFA will get swamped with cheap BG goblin gear any time soon.
