down for a few hours (2-3 from this post), awaiting attention following a brief power glitch. Didn't seem long enough to warrant rolling back to the slower host.

Back in business as of an hour or two ago. Hopefully performance is much improved.

A few hours' downtime late last night / early this AM due to a power outage at the hosting site. Wvincente has ordered a new UPS unit that should help alleviate these outages, which should be in place by Wednesday or Thursday of next week. My spare hosting hardware is still on standby in case of extended outage, but I prefer to keep the hosting via wvincente's hardware and connection when possible.

BG is presently up and stable.

Down again while we tinker with the new UPS. Shouldn't be too long.

Things went badly awry while setting up the UPS on the new host. Had to take many steps back, so in the meantime, I've reloaded BG on my spare hostrig- may be slow and buggy, but it's around and available in th meantime.

Took BG down at my place to transfer things back to the rejuvenated Jersey host. Shouldn't be long till it's back and faster.

We've had a delay in getting the port forwarding reconfigured at the Jersey host; but the setup there is 99% complete, so we hope to have it up on the faster host later tonight.

In the meantime, I put it back up on the old hardware for those who needed to portal through or wanted to get online tonight while we wait out the last config step on the new host.

And we're up on the Jersey host again, with UPS and port forwarding in place.

BG is offline for at least a few hours; I tried relogging to allow some linux updates to finish, but am now locked out of remote access, so we'll have to wait for wvincente to get to the machine and sort out the remote desktop keychain again.

If possible, we may leave it down an extra hour or two in order to try to ensure that this issue doesn't lead to more downtime in the future, if schedules allow.

Hi - I think I'm supposed to post this -

wvincenti has a bit of domestic work to do that is going to require a shutdown of the BG server.

He'll need to turn it off, disconnect all wires, move around some furniture, thread some wires, reconnect everything, then get BG reconnected to the vault.

It sounds like a half a day if everything goes OK.

I think he's leaning toward Thursday morning US east time.

And of course, Bill......Thanks for hosting and thinking of us ahead of time and scheduling your real life around our nerdy little fake lives

The server is back online and connected to the vault.
