Heh, for the record, Jacobim Foxmantle was something like Rogue 4 / Cleric 7 , of Mask.
I do not know what the "rules" might have been, I'd always played a secretive caster who if desperately needing a little magic, would rely on scrolls, wands, etc., or wait until he could stealth away somewhere to put on glorious Extended hourly buffs, as 3.0 was famous for. Cleric wearing non-plate, fancy that!
The topic did though get some "legs" when fade's "Zauric" started stomping around in full plate, invoking Mask here and there, perfectly legit scam for a Cyric worshipper to try out (prince of lies etc.), maybe he had all kinds of social skill ranks, but if it's in front of two or three hard-core Maskarran temple members and thieves' guild operators, detecting something is fishy, even if it's "gee, wonder why we've never seen him at the temple," is all a part of collaborative story telling. The story isn't spoiled when plans are not necessarily an unqualified success, setbacks are just additional things to plan and scheme to overcome.
Invisible holy symbol though... that's clever! Except maybe for the "displaying it to undead" bit, they're immune to phantasms but not to glamers, so they wouldn't see what the heck's on display. And yeah, no quibble with the Malcer build, if you blow precious skill points on "social" stuff as opposed to useful CvE stuff, gotta give some credit for it.
