Hail and Wellmet

Post by fairdady »

Hello ALFA players and Staff. The name is fairdady, I received my acceptance email today and will be joining in the comming days. I've never played on an ALFA server on NWN1 or NWN2, but that is about to change now isn't it. As many of the others have said already I've heard nothing but good things of the ALFA servers past and present and I look forward to being a productive, or at least a non-problematic, member of the community.

To those of you I know, it will be good to hopefully meet your characters and seeing what the future will bring our way. To those that I do not know yet, may our paths cross and fun be had by all.

I'm probably overly fond of playing dwarves and have been working and progressing details and backstory on a dwarven clan, Clan BloodAxe, over the last 20 years or so. So my lack of will power to play something different will most likely result in more than a few BloodAxe dwarves being made by myself to survive in this hardcore enviroment.

Speaking of, this will be my first "hardcore permadeath" server. I usually try and steer clear of such things mainly because of the variables that are out of my control that could lead to my character dying. Hardware, net lag, children running in spilling Kool-Aid all over me, my keyboard, and the mouse... don't laugh it's happened. Or how about the time were at 2AM my youngest stumbled in half asleep saying "Daddy I don't feel good", and before the last word exited her mouth it was followed by curddled milk and a horrendous strench. Yeah um guys can we like hold here for 10 minutes so I can clean all this puke up? MMmm K, thanks. Oof and that was in the middel of a DM event I was in and shouting battle orders. Then the middle child did the SAME THING to me the NEXT NIGHT! Yeah variables... love em.

However with a severe lack of decent roleplay or servers that know what it is that they want, I find myself giving ALFA a try first because of it's reputation, secondly because I know a few folks here or coming here. So, here we go!

Congrats and welcome. Let us know if you have any questions along the way, maybe we can eliminate a few variables. ;)

Right then, I should make these extra solemn good luck wish, vis-a-vis your second character.

Good luck on your second character.

And now that's out of the way: welcome to ALFA. Have fun and be fun!

Wow... I'm not even on yet with my first character Holly.... *begins to look worried*

And you're wishing me luck on my second character.... *glances around nervously*

Something I should know about? *does the quick peek around the corner*

Thanks all for the welcome. Server was down last night, but I got all my downloading done. Oof..

See you tonight if fate allows it.

In a way...

You're already quite aware of the implications of permadeath, but this traditional ALFAn welcome serves to remind people not to start playing with their favourite concept PC or somesuch.
You will die. Memento Mori. :dead:

Few and far between are the characters that survive for year after year, and even fewer (one?) are the ones that were someone's first ALFA character. Let your PCs live good lives, and aim for meaningful deaths. Because die they will.
