Well Met

Post by kyrin »

I'm happy to say that I've recently been accepted to ALFA ... it's been a long time coming. I first found out about this ambitious project several years ago but it's taken me this long to have both NWN and a decent internet connection at the same time.

While new to ALFA (and to on-line gaming, in general) I've been in and out of Realms for many years ... I go back to the gray box campaign setting and the gold box video games. I'm really looking forward to a new experience of FR and to many more years of great role-play.

I have to admit that I'm a little overwhelmed by some of the technical demands of playing in ALFA and, while I think I did all the necessary downloading, extracting, etc. etc. I may need some questions answered/general assistance. I only have NWN1 as yet and would be interested in joining the Dales or Cormyr to begin with, possibly as a Ranger. I'm open to anything, however, and welcome any advice about how best to proceed.

Welcome to ALFA. Enjoy your stay. Ask away and I'm sure someone will help you (even me, but I shall demand payment).

Hello, welcome and good luck with your second character.

Don't worry too much about the technical details, the friendly folk on our IRC channel(s) are more than willing to help (when they're not flaming eachother). ;)

Cormyr and Shadowdale are both servers with an active population, but which works best for you largely depends on your timezone. Ask around who's online when, especially DMs.

If by "I only have NWN1" you mean you don't have both the expansions (Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark), you have a problem. Both are required to play, there's no way around that. If however you mean you don't have NWN2: no problem. While the time our NWN2 servers go live draws near, nobody's about to give up on NWN1 just yet. If ever.

You're in good company here- good times. Thangorn's even building Phlan for NWN2, in case anyone's up to relive the fun of wresting back control of monster-infested city districts on the Stojanow river. I'm pretty much full-time on the NWN2 side of things currently, but hopefully we'll get to cross paths down the line once things are rolling with Live.

Hallo and Welcome, To the World of Tomorrow!
People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

*pats* Them sewer rats will mess ya up.

Fortunately, most of us have stories of decidedly unepic character deaths. Think of it as a rite of passage. ;)

Welcome to ALFA... rats make me think under Arabel's or Selgaunt's streets, definitely check out the relevant IRC channels (possibly #alfa-nc and #sembia) to coordinate with other players. Less chance of miserable, lonely, ignominious death.

You can at least strike the "lonely" part.

Can probably strike "miserable" out, too. More likely to be able to crack jokes about character deaths if you have witnesses (or company!). :D
