Greetings folks. Recently accepted, and intrigued to begin. Looking forward to meeting you all in the realm, if I could only figure out how... (: Posted in the mentorship forum, but I'll reiterate here: In need of some help connecting to the servers, then learning the ways of the game.
I have the haks installed, and NWN1 updated. Need help from there. The next step? Thanks a lot, any info would be helpful.

For starters, I'd suggest checking the various servers for one that's active during your playing time. The next phase would be to "roll up" a character that would be interesting to play in that server's setting. There might be player groups you could latch onto, or particular story arcs you could contribute to. The players and DMs of the server of your choice could help you further with that.
So pick your part of the Realms, and check its forum or IRC channel for more.

IRC is very helpful. PM me if you have trouble connecting to that.

Assuming PST means Pacific Time (California, Oregon, Seattle, etc), then you're in the same time zone as a fair number of us. Shadowdale and Sembia have had the largest populations in our time zone lately, and I believe there is a low level campaign starting on Shadowdale this sunday evening.
If you've got the haks, the tlk file, and NWN1+expansions all installed, you'll want to:
1. Make sure you know the ALFA player password (should be in bold on top of the list on this page:
http://www.alandfaraway.org/serverstatus.php - assuming you're logged in)
2. Check out the multiplayer server listings in gamespy under "PW Story", look for the ones that start with ALFA. Should be able to connect and roll up a PC on the one of your choice.
Be aware that a server vault complexity may make it difficult to switch servers early on, so best to pick a populated server to stay on for a few weeks when you're starting off. Don't be afraid to send tells to get to know other players OOC as well- most will be quite welcoming.
Hope this helps, will be looking for you in-game.
