Hello one and all,
At the urging of a good friend of mine (who plays here and used to in another server community), I filled out an application a couple of months ago and unfortunately got zero response, I sort of dropped it and figured my odds weren't so good of getting in (Even tried the app server for awhile with mostly crickets chirping) so I'm going to try applying again in hopes that it goes somewhere this time.
I played here long ago, during the Beta phase, and for a number of reasons was not able to continue playing due to RL time constraints - so here's to hoping my second re-application gets traction. I've played on another HCR roleplay server off and on for the past year and a half or so and have been playing/DM'ing PnP games for 16 years or so (gawd! time flies!).
Cheers
Nick

Have you tried the OAS?
You can show your stuff there and it might feel less like a waiting game

OK -- for those of you who have read my commentary (ie "rant") about the application process, Niko is one of my friends who I tried to recruit to ALFA but who gave up after a few weeks of effort.
Back then we played a half a dozen or more sessions on the OAS together ( at least a few of which had DM involvement) and he sent in a written app, with credentials likely at least as decent as my own.
Anyway, Niko played Alrec Toban on the Earthspurs ( not the ALFA affiliated version) and is widely regarded as one of the best RPers in that community (despite his penchant for PCs with unintelligible accents

)
I am sure that this comes off as pushy, but I would hope for a prompt application review this time around if possible.
Thanks much,
Dergon

*Ahem*. . . Its all for the sake of versimlitude.
erm. . . ok. . . I admit it the accents started out as a way to help me get in character, now it's just plain ol' addiction

Please check that an email in response isn't being automatically funnelled into junk mail. I've heard of that happening and I expect its very unlikely applications are never answered one way or another. Having been the recipient of both the "bad" response and the "good" response

I received both bad and good application responses and both went to the junk mail folder in my yahoo.com account.

Thanks for the tip, however I can say unequivocally that I did not receive any response . . . I review my junk folder in thunderbid before I delete anything by running a message query for keywords, and at the time I was on the lookout for an acceptance/denial message so I had rules in place to filter messages from ALFA's domain to the appropriate folder. <Shrug> no, big deal either way; it didn't make feel mad, bad, sad, or any other "ad" word you could think of. I just sort of forgot about it until I talked with dergon again recently.
I have another app in the pipeline, so hopefully I'll hear something one way or another. I'm just hoping to come back to ALFA due to the powergaming attitude that has overtaken my previous "home" like a cancer. . . not too mention I look forward to playing with my old friend again, and meeting some more like minded people.

. . . I'm not exactly certain when it happened . . . maybe it happened long ago and I just never saw it but it appears (after reading the ALFA player's handbook and reading the bit about the server status link) that my account has/had been approved at some point.
At least I assume the server status page being visible is some pretty good imperical evidence to suggest this?
er . . . am I in?

According to the acceptance email which tells me that the Server Status page is only available once you've been accepted, then yes you are.

I think if you can access the server status page and see the server password your profile is in and accepted. I think all that matters is that they have your current gamespy ID so that you don't get frozen on the live servers. I haven't been around long enough to know with 100% accuracy though
