There was a new ranger around recently in the OAS until he got killed by a goblin. Now he waits patiently at the Morgue for some kind soul to resurrect him. *Sigh* 6 days left....

I suggest rolling up a new PC and reading the ALFA Players Manual section on permadeath. If the death of the ranger wasn't too harsh an introduction to ALFA, welcome to the community!

Welcome and have fun. Logging in during scheduled DM sessions on the OAS might help you avoid the goblin welcoming committee, who apparently are open 24/7 in the absence of DMs...

See you in game.

Well, I've read the guidelines but I took a chance, and now I'm dead. I whould prefere to play this character I've created. I was thinking maybe someone whould give me another chance. Hehe.

Its wonderful that you are attached to your character this way but one way of lookng at your introduction to ALFA is by trying out different concepts and experimenting a bit.

You are not able to directly transfer characters from the OAS to live servers so you are free to play with different ideas. You can then take what you learn and apply it to developing an idea for a character on the live servers.

You may get the advice to not use your favorite character concept first and this is because the ALFA world is a very unforgiving one. The challenge level is high and being resurrected is rare.

When you are accepted, there is no reason why you couldn't use a similar ranger character on the live server of your choice.

Also resurection is something very costly and pretty rare... it's not something you'd do for a complete stranger.

I'd recommend you spend your time on the OAS making mistakes there instead of making them in ALFA Live

By the way Welcome to ALFA and good luck on your next character

Ok, thanks for the advice. I think I will keep my dead character on the server until time expires, and in the mean time I'll create a new character to play around with. :)

Vedui Testlund, and welcome. Hope this whole "PC death-thing" doesn't burn you too much. ALPHA can be dangerous, but holds limitless fun as well. Try out a few new PC concepts while you're romping through the OAS, and make sure to join a group when adventure calls (Solo character = fertilizer  )

Welcome to ALFA. Don't fret to much over a lost character on OAS. That tends to be the trend rather than the exception for most. Just think of a new character idea and jump right back in. Aeron always needs more help with taking more dead adventurers to the cemetary for burial. :)

Thanks for your replies. I've just sent in an application and hope I will be able to join another server soon, especially Waterdeep. :D

Well...I've been giving this some thoughts, what kind of character I want to play and where. I have 4 characters in mind that I whould like to play in the following priority:

1. Chaotic good ranger. This character has lived most of his life in a small cabin where he has grown his own crops and done a little hunting from time to time. One day when he came home his house was burned to the ground and the place was looted. So he desided to leave and start over somewhere else, just trying to survive, very inexperienced and not fond of engaging in violence in the beginning. But he will eventually learn to improve his skills and grow into the role as a protector of nature and to help people.

2. Neutral good wizard. This character is very interested in magic and to research spells and spell components. He likes to read about magic. He is interested in the old Netheril society and his diety is ofcourse Mystra. He knows nothing about adventuring. He has lived a secluded life in some tower or similar. I've heard Silverymoon whould be a good place for this character. I'm thinking this character whould start out a peaceful life and eventually get drawn into adventure, against his will. This character whould complain if he has to walk in the rain or get his shoes dirty, but he whould learn to become an adventurer or a force against evil to recon with.

3. Druid. This one might have grown up in a druidic circle in the wilderness. Maybe there are players out there who runs a druidic circle on some server and wants another druid?

4. Lawful evil pale master. Well, ofcourse he will just start as a level one wizard with a growing desire for death magic. His true nature wont be apperent at first. He's just another wizard studying magic, but he gets drawn into necromancy. A desire that keeps growing. His hunger for power will grow and he will lose himself. How's that? :-= Hehe.

Well, these are some examples. I haven't figured out a history for these characters. I could give one of these characters more depth, but I whould like to know if someone is interested to let me in first.

In the mean time, I'll just play around from time to time with some character in OAS. I got two characters in the Morgue. How many can I create anyway? Do they get deleted eventually if nobody resurrects them?
