So this idiot walks up...

Hey there chaps.

A friend of mine, Josh to be exact, has cajoled me into coming into these parts to give this whole ALFA thing a shot.

Too bad I am lacking in Hordes of the Underdark.

Luckily, it's for sale at $10 at Amazon.com.

Luckily, I have a shiny little gift certificate lying around waiting to be spent.

So it's merrily on the way, my Christmas present for myself I suppose.

Presently Josh has harassed me, perhaps harass is too strong a word here... (I shall use it none-the-less), into joining the forums and participating in the social mish-mosh here as I wait my ordained 5 to 7 business days for my package.

Another friend of mine; Pyros has signed up for the ALFA experience. He too is a victim to Josh's hints and encouragements. The three of us played on a server together for a length of time.

That is all in the past now to some extent. I'm looking forward to this new flavor, this new taste, this new experience. Perhaps the ALFA "veterans" can toss an idiot like myself a few scraps of knowledge?

I'll adventure across the Open Application Server when my package arrives. Do be warned, my roleplaying is not up to snuff, it's been several months since I really had a good go at it. I'll be lucky if I can fool you folks into thinking my roleplaying is of any substantial quality.

Hahaha!
Tally-ho.

Silly Nomolos :) You'll do just fine on the OAS. One thing some folks aren't aware of at first is it's good to fill in the Deity space with a Forgotten Realms deity relevant to your race and class, or just type in "none".

I've often used this as a resource for race and deity info. http://myth-drannor.net/DlabraddathNet/ ... h/Main.htm Perhaps others about might have another good link.

As for "scraps" of knowledge, these forums are a veritable trove of D&D/RPing goodness.

I am not much of a fan of bringing back old characters, but I may use Azfarn for the OAS. He is sort of a magic-filled-age agnostic, or as close as you can get when gods are slapping magic down here and there. Think that'll be swell?

As long as he's agnostic by design and not by omission, that's his funeral. As for the man behind the PC, I'd suggest reading the ALFA Players Manual linked on the home page for much more than tidbits.

Welcome to the community, no matter what PC you play, and good luck on the OAS.

Vedui Nomolos, and welcome. In a realm of countless dieties, an agnostic should be interesting, to say the least. Meander about, meet the locals, and have fun. BTW, be careful.... a falling pine cone can kill most first-level mages, and ALPHA has many more dangers than just tall trees  (hell, I'm starting to sound like a druid).

Welcome to ALFA. I think you will find the locals helpful, the goblins dangerous and the badgers deadly. :)
