Hi
Hi to the ALFA community,
My name is Susan and I have applied for membership. I am new to PWs, having only played computer RP games before, and this is definitely a horse of a different color. My thanks to all the DM's at OAS for their patience and wisdom as I quietly struggle to learn the ropes. You are the best.
Interesting to me, as I work on developing Laurelin's character, it seems to reveal things in my own character that weren't entirely apparent....... but you probably already knew that. I have chosen a character that struggles with the same issues I do, perhaps because it is easiest for a beginner, but as it turns out, because she also may find some of the answers I haven't.

This is one of the more interesting things about roleplaying in my opinion.sgibsongirl wrote: Interesting to me, as I work on developing Laurelin's character, it seems to reveal things in my own character that weren't entirely apparent....... but you probably already knew that. When you start playing characters that differ from your own personality, you stand to learn alot aswell.
Welcome to ALFA, i'm confident you'll be accepted as a member.

Re: Hi
Yep yep...i find that i enjoy playing and learn the most from characters who are different from me but have elements of my personality in them. Having something of myself in them allows me to become more immersed and empathetic with them, and having the rest of them be different from me keeps it fresh and allows me to see similar issues from a different point of view. Fascinating stuff really.zicada wrote: This is one of the more interesting things about roleplaying in my opinion.

Thanks to everyone who had a hand in accepting my application. I hope to prove myself worthy ! I have to say I don't fully have the mechanics of the game under control, so I will continue to haunt the OAS world until I get command of those things at least. I haven't really explored much there either........after dying the first hour there, I suddenly had more respect for the wilderness therein. Been fun though, and all the OAS dms that I have encountered have been both helpful and patient.
I am sorry there isn't a spot for real beginners to explore the mechanics without dying or wasting other adventurers time, but probably there aren't many of us extreme novices.......
Busy season coming up, but hope to get more experience in soon.
Thanks all!
