Hello everybody!

Post by gobbledygookie »

Ave and salutations good people of ALFA! :D

I'm a NWN veteran, and a Fanatic role-player... used to play on most hardcorest (and bestest) of RP servers (Haze, anyone?)... displeased with the current situation of shoddy servers, I even tried to create my own for a while-- of course it didn't work out due to lack of time (maybe in a few years, really). Anyway, became a big fan of the Forgotten Realms over time, started to read novels and enjoying the writings lately. Eventually I was reminded of ALFA (I have had several accounts here over time, but I never keep a consistent one for multiple reasons), and thought I should give it a shot. The only reason I didn't so far was due to a misgiving about the players-spread layout, but now I figure... show me a server advocating the same seriousness of RP'ing-- there isn't. Hence, though it still concerns me, I guess I'm gonna have to take the good with the bad for now, and see how it works for me.

I guess I'm gonna dispatch an application soon, so that's my introduction.

Till we meet,

Are you referring to the distribution of players over the number of servers not being to your liking? I believe we have a concentration of former Hazites and I'm sure one or more will let you know where.

Good luck on the app.

Welcome to the worlds largest Forgotten Realms, Non-profit, On-line, Dungeons & Dragons, Role-playing, Community! The densest bunch of bohemians around.

Nail down a OAS DM and fill their session, and you should be processed in one or two sessions. Old HAZE players are are corralled into application sessions.

Well good to see you have your sights set on us gobbledy!

HDB is spot on, fill out your app, but also jump right into the gooey goodness that is the Open Application Server in Gamespy under RP Story section right above all the passworded ALFA live servers!

Welcome home fellow Hazite.
Do you know what "nemesis" means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent. Personified in this case by an 'orrible cunt... me.

Vedui fellow ex-Hazian. If your prior ventures in Haze were to your liking then I think your in for another treat. The builder/DM/player base in ALFA is great and full of RP depth, which is likely why so many previous Hazians now call it their PW "home". Hope to see ya ingame soon.

Funny you should ask........this is the first time that question has ever come up.

The time frame frame is highly variable.

Just kidding..... give it a week for someone in apps to take a looksee.

Also, the acceptance seems to often get dumped into people's junk folder, so be sure to check there.

And finallly, sometimes you get activated without even knowing it (like me for three weeks after I joined). Log in to the forums and if you suddenly see a whole bunch of new forums threads that weren't there before..you're in.

Alternatively you can log into the OAS and some of the DMs there can get you in as well. Generally written apps take 1-2 weeks and the OAS depends on how often you can attend scheduled DM sessions. Good luck.

The basic policy is to turn applications around within one week. This allows the application reviewers time to review each application, check the OAS DM notes about the applicant (if any exist), and come to a concensus on the application. Occasionally an application may take longer to review than one week, but in those instances, there is usually a technical problem with the application of one sort or another.

One helpful note: Many application responses end up getting screened out by the applicant's junk and spam filters. If more than a week has passed since you applied, routinely check your junk mail folder (if you have one).

If you have not received a response within one week and you have checked your junk/spam folder, then feel free to contact either the Player Admin, currently me (Mikayla), or the Head of Admissions, currently Maxcell. We will do our best to let you know what the status of your application is.
