Hi. Welcome. You might wish to post some pertinent details about your timezone and intended play hours so those in the know can make an informed recommendation. That said, it seems relatively easy to move from server to server, so any initial choice isn't crippling.

The Shadowdale server seems to have a mix of players across several countries and timezones and some good roleplayers.

Welcome to ALFA. The shadowdale server does have alot of new players and is busy US evenings. However depending on your time zone there are different servers that are busy at different times. PM me if you have trouble finding one to suit you at your play times.

Time and character

Post by Ludo »

Welcome to ALFA. Did you play on the OAS before getting accepted? I play there once in awhile.

What times do you play? My advice quotes the wisest - play where there are DMs around when you want to play. Look at DM times by day in the Player Info forum.

That said, I highly recommend the city of Silverymoon for newbies, because I'm relatively new and still alive there. Wynna is running a low-level mystery campaign that has attracted some very experienced and respected players, Rotku being the dragonmost among them. I value the chance to learn good RP and good DMing from the best.

The campaign runs on Fridays from 11pm to 2 am GMT (U?T) which is 5 to 8 EST where I am. Wynna DMs from my 5 to 8 on Wednesdays. Those are horrible times for me! Wynna is super, the best, and other complimentary adjectives - again I quote the wisest.

The other parts of the Silver Marches are dangerous. Don't go there if you're new to NWN as well as to ALFA, as I am. If you are experienced, have good reflexes and don't mind dying, you can join the war on the good or evil side. I understand it's winding down now - lots of loot.

Time considerations being equal, you might PM DMs to ask where your character concept would fit well. I ask annoying questions persistently, yet many DMs have been very helpful to me.

I'm looking forward to hearing when and what you decide to play. While I was typing this, Tathkar and the infamous HEEGZ posted. HEEGZ is one of the wisest, newer here than I am and knows much more already.

Congratulations and welcome to ALFA. Yup, looks like the Silver Marches is the starting server for January http://www.alandfaraway.org/phpbbforum/ ... hp?t=25764 but you should check the DM schedules to see if another server better fits your playing availability.

Shadowdale is definitely experiencing some great new players and could always use another meatshield, ur , I mean player.
