Hello everyone!

Hi everyone,

I have just applied to ALFA, and the getting started guide has indicated I should introduce myself, so here I am!

I used to be a DM, quest writer and area creator in my own persistent world (On NWN) with rules similar to ALFA, so I can say I am very much glad I found you! I used to own NWN2 a long time ago but never got a chance to play online, so this is a first for me.

I have been playing RPG's and writing for quite a long time now (with a bit of Baldur's Gate portrait art on the side) and I consider my Realmslore (pre-spell plague) to be at a very high standard.

If you wish to know more or have any questions, feel free to ask =)

Hey.

Trying to think what I can say to get you started.
You can check who's online by looking at the top of the alandfaraway.org page.
I'm not sure what's the situation on the US time zones, but you should check out when people are on so you could hook up and get started.
All the servers are quite nice and have some simple quests to get you started on your low levels.
Main roads on all the servers are 99% of the time safe.
If you get to some dirt road though... you may be at risk, being a prema death game, risk is bad!
more so when alone (:
probably the richest in static quest material is BG, and sometimes it helps to pass the time until you find people to play with on that server or another.
almost everyone are friendly so when you get online just shoot an in-server or cross-server tell and say hi or ask whatever you like.
You are allowed two PCs, but NOT on the same server. 30 days must pass before you can bring PC2 to a server where PC1 has been.
But generaly speaking this means you can try out two servers at the same time when trying to find a group to play with.

DM games is where ALFA truly shines, so sniff and try to get some DM lovin.
There's a Euro game on WHL tuesdays, and a few US lowbie games. DMs on TSM are just starting something no US time zones - something that has some relations to the famos bard school in Silverymoon. So that might be a good place to start.

Either way, have fun, and hope to see you in game.
(Oh, and yeah, and don't get bumed if your dude gets ganked by a goblin, it happens :P)

Main roads on TSM aren't always safe. :) The overland travel map has random chances for wandering monster encounters even when sticking to the road; and you never know when a sneaky DM might have something set up... it is the wild dangerous North after all!

If you log in and find yourself alone (which isn't uncommon lately) the temptation to get bored and start solo exploring off road into more dangerous places is strong; it's often a bad idea at low lvls unless you have an uber stealth focused PC. Different areas might have different levels of danger, but sometimes it's just random and your luck is exponentially worse solo vs with even 1 other character with you.

TSM currently is a good place for low lvl PCs in the US timezone to begin; it has lowbie friendly static quests (some which are doable solo) and about half a dozen low lvl PCs getting started now/recently, and some regular DM coverage (2, 3 times a week is my goal) that happens to be very low lvl friendly (though it doesn't mean it'll always be safe; highly recommend running for your life as a very sensible option at times).

Welcome to ALFA, hope to see you around in the wild, dangerous frontiers of TSM (or another server)! WHL also has a couple of weekly campaign type sessions going during euro friendly hours.

Oh, and we definitely could use folks that are able/willing to craft fun static quest type content btw; there are folks who'd love to chat with you about that when you decide that might be something you'd enjoy. :D
