Some survival tips for new players

1. Don't wander out into the wilderness with every PC you meet...some of them may have IC motivation to kill you, if you have been chatty - esp. those playing hard aligned good or evil groups opposed to your faction.

2. Don't reveal your faction affiliation to strangers (PC or NPC)... a good place to reveal it is in the headquarters of that faction for example.

3. Don't solo - you will die.

4. DO hook up w/ new players around the same level as you are. DMs love these group and they get extra attention *hint*.

One thing I would like to add: If you get into a bad situation by breaking rules one through four, run and/or beg for your life (assuming it would be reasonable IC).

Just because another PC wants to kill you because he/she hates your faction or alignment, for example, doesn't mean they'll kill you in cold blood as you sob and beg for your life. They might, don't get me wrong. But it can't hurt to try.

Oh, and #3 should read: "3. Don't solo - you will die." I don't know if it's possible to really understand how true it is until you learn it from experience, though...

And even if they do at least they get those extra evil points for killing you. Though.. honestly, they're probably already at the bottom of the metaphorical evil barrel.

as I understand it... if it has a bigger sword than you do, run

if it uses spells.... run

if it has a visual effect... run

if it's small and pathetic.... run

if it's a rabbit.... run like hell

Stand behind someone, use a ranged weapon.. if it eats the guy ahead of you run. If there are more creatures than party members run, if the guy in front starts running ..run. If it runs past the guy in front towards you, run.. in a big circle so that the other guy can scrape it off of you. Unless of course the mob has an audio or visual effect or is a bunny, in which case you should have already been running.
