Roleplaying questions

Hello everyone,

Andacanavar here.

This is my first time on ALFA, but I am a a seasoned vet of both NWN2 and PnP D&D.

I am interested in knowing how much roleplaying actually occurs in these servers.

Maybe someone can fill me in on how this all works. Are some servers more combat heavy than others? More roleplay heavy?

Also, on a side note, why is the frenzied berserker prohibited. My entry background (the one I plan to use) relies on it.

Oh, on another side note, (sorry, again, first timer) -- how much of Kaedrin's PrC pack stuff is implemented here. I'd like to know because they are very cool, and I also have those haks installed.

Thanks for your patience (and hopefully your good advice)

Andacanavar

Welcome Andacanavar !

In a word....constant. Players are expected to be IC at all times when logged. You play one character and dive in to that personality.

All of the servers are linked under the same rules and live by the same principles of ALFA play. Individual servers do attract a different player base, but this is most due to IC considerations. (certain faiths or alignments might be more welcome in one place and less welcome in another).

The amount of combat is similar across the board. It is highly lethal to the novice, low level and loner. The vast majority of combat will come in partied groups (unless you like dieing).

Also, on a side note, why is the frenzied berserker prohibited. My entry background (the one I plan to use) relies on it.

Can't answer that one. All prestige races and classes are evaluated for game balance and their appropriateness for the Forgotten Realms setting. I'll let someone who knows the details answer.

I've never heard of that before. ...but I'm no techy so I am not sure if that thing is in my haks or not.

PrC (if you mean prestige class) is limited to in ALFA. They require DM approval based on long term in-character development.

I hope this answers most....and I hope to see you ingame soon!

Welcome to ALFA, good luck with your second character!

Depends on what exactly you mean by "roleplaying", really. Everything our characters do is motivated by their own motivations, so in that respect it's a full-on, 24h-a-day roleplaying bonanza. But that doesn't mean we never go out and kick goblin butt.

Nope. Same world, same rules, same gameplay. Each server tends to have its own "style", but that's about it.

Basicly the FB got a lot of bad press from its PnP incarnation, which is notorious for causing in-fighting. While the NWN2 version doesn't actually have that problem, in view of our attempts to at least resemble the original D&D, the Berserker was simply axed.

Nothing whatsoever. Sorry.

Welcome to ALFA. Look forward to seeing you in game. :D

It should probably be mentioned that you do not have to play the PC you described in your application, so FB being prohibited will just mean you will need to come up with another concept.

Also, I hope that particular prohibition will not be a show-stopper for you. Please sample what we have going on our servers. I think you will be pleased.

Welcome aboard, matey! :D

If you like RP, you've found the right place...and just because the class FB is not recognized, doesn't mean you can't roll up a bard and RP one, but survival (as in RL) depends on managing risk, so you've got me curious at to how that might be done :chin:

I look forward to seeing you IG soon. :D
