A few days ago I learned that the "fleshy" parts of clothing can be dyed, and don't all need to be the pasty pale they are by default.

Great!

So how does one find out what a PC's actual skin colour is? I don't mean any fancy scripted shenanigans; just plain and simply the skin colour values of one's own PC. Or is it all a matter of trial and error, using quasi-analog sliders?

Export your character; open the .bic in a GFF editor; read the color values. They should be in hex, but most image editing programs (paint.NET and GIMP are free) understand hex values, and will translate that into hue/saturation/brightness.

You'll probably have to trial and error on top of that, though; if an outfit's "fleshy" portion can be dyed, it's understood by the game as a bit of cloth that happens to be tinted to look flesh...ish... when pure white. But then so is your character's skin. It's just unlikely that the two native tints of the two different models are the same.
