Sandermann has recently experienced the same thing....toolset will not open at all, but the regular game will.

Cadav, this was Sandermann's fix. See if it works for you...
Sandermann wrote:all sorted for me, was an isue with NWN gold directX, I had to re-install directx from my old NWN2 CD, seems that the directx included with NWN2 gold, though the same "version" (9c) as that on the installation CD was somehow different.

Updated .Net framework
Installed Latest Nvidia Drivers
downgraded DirectX to one on SOZ CD as recommended

still no luck..

If a fresh install would be helpful, please let me know which folders I should save so as not to have to DL all the ALFA content after I have reinstalled.

Sorry, El C. I'm at a loss. Hopefully somebody will be able to help with the info you've provided, though.

You might try updating this thread at the official forums: http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/vi ... &forum=116

Looks like you're not the only one, but nobody has answered that thread yet. Perhaps a bump will help.
Enjoy the game
