Looking to Help

Hey,

I am still very new to ALFA (only been here for about a week or so), and so far, I must say that I am very impressed with what little I've seen. My computer is a bit finnicky right now, but I have a new one being built and shipped, and it should be here in a couple weeks at most. In the mean time, I am extending an offer to help with some smaller toolset projects. I thoroughly enjoy the creative/artistic aspect of it, but I admit I am not the best insofar as scripting. I would be more than willing to assist with building the "physical" areas and would be more than willing to take on some light, relatively easy scripting projects while I improve on my scripting skills, although I will readily admit that I may need to draw upon others' expertise and skills with it :)

Please, feel free to email or pm me and I will be more than happy to help! Until my new PC arrives (SLI and all! woohoo!) my playing time will probably be minimal, but it shouldn't interfere at all with my ability to work with the toolset. If anything, it'll give me more time to work on it :) Seeing as the TSM is the only live server so far, I'd wish to volunteer to help with that, but I am definitely open to others! :)

Do you have IRC access? If so, pop into #tsm-builders on Sorcery Net! Right now a few of our main builders are out having fun meeting each other on the East Coast, and my time is limited on weekends, but once we all manage to connect that would be the best way to get to know each other/learn.

Thanks for the offer!

Just a tip before you get started, have a look at this here:

http://www.alandfaraway.org/docs/Technical/Technical

I didn't became aware of it's relevance until pretty late in my building efforts. It covers the standards used for the ALFA builds.

Also, if you end up scripting conversations, there's allot of useful GC standard scripts. I was merrily writing my own scripts wondering why ACF wasn't covering such basic functions, when Wynna pointed out they are standard in NWN2.

There's really allot to learn about the NWN2 toolset and building for ALFA. Best bet is to just ask on #alfa-builders or have a look around the project forums if you need a certain answer. The amount of information is massive, you can spend an entire day trying to read up and forget most of it before you're even done.

Ok, that ended up being more than just one tip. Here's another one, the last:

Have fun. :)

Well, that would explain why the poor guy was alone in the building channel when I was certain people were on. Sorry, Fyrekrest.
