What would be the best starting, total-njub, NWN2 toolset for dummies tutorial out there for someone who has yet to put a toe in the toolset pool?

Hitchhiker's helped me adjust from NWN1 TS to the evil, torture machine of doom that is the NWN2 TS.

Beyond tutorials, what would benefit you most is starting out on building interiors as well, they are much more straightforward and more simple than exteriors. Though it does take more time than NWN1 due to all placeables needing to be placed once tilesets are placed down.

Just my own opinion though.

I concur, interiors are best to start with. And if you want to even build a simple interior shop or something for one of the current NWN2 ALFA mods, check with Thanghorn or myself :)

The advantage of the Hitchhiker's tutorial over the "dive-in and build an interior" is that Hitchhiker's teaches you how to rotate the camera. LOL

Depending on how njubish you really are, take a skim over the tutorial to get a feel and then proceed to interiors. The tutorial is full of pictures and will take you about an hour.

The orcman is right, hit the tutorial first..then go BEYOND the tutorial and hit interiors first. if you have any weird problems post em and I'll try to help if I can.

Next question:

Damart, download worldgate, then run it with alandfaraway.org as the url site, this will upload acr, erfs and cool add ons. For upgrades to overrides, tiles ect, you'll need to dled elsewhere I beleive, check the stickies in this forum for dled info.

I think the best thing to do to get started for anyone new to the NWN2 %@$#$@ toolset is to build stuff on the Moonsea. We have a very clear plan and design guidelines that will assist newcomers (not to mention a dead sexy HDM). I am quite happy to help people learn and can assist with most toolset enquiries.

Working with the toolset can be cathartic, fun and character building. Ensure you have a punching bag and a pillow to yell into handy if you have children and make sure no hatchets or other implements that could harm the computer are in arms reach..

apart from that.. nwn2 toolset is real purty and worth learning..

There is no substitute for just getting in there and throwing placeables at a set of interior tiles. And all the tutorials Aelred links in his Tutorials sticky above.

I think Indio would be our resident outdoor area builder expert. Ask him for what plugins are helpful when it comes to building outdoor areas.
