Good luck with it, until then, I'll do other floor plans. Thanks!

Wynna and Rick, you should grab MotB asap to see how the Estate tileset can be used for interiors. It's not full of towers of course, but you will be surprised how much flexibility it adds to city interiors.

A branch imperfected at the moment, but branching off of Alered's awesome tower example, pictures of a tower accessable from inside for the House Invincible....an example of a tower that does not stand alone, but is connected to a larger structure.

Image

Overhead veiw of the connection. I have used only three of the four curves originally used by alered for the tower itself, and also refitted long walls of the same type to connect the curves. Planning on resizing those to the point you can't distinguish from above.

Image

Outside of the tower, but within the main building. I wanted to leave the towers accessable without use of transitions or doors, so instead I used an archway combined with refittted long walls as well as columns for filler.

Image

Inside the tower, again facing the arched opening. The large room seen through the archway will be the main temple.

Note that the colors don't match, I will either try to match them better or leave as is and pass off the towers as different stone than the main building. Hopefully I'll be able to match the colors a bit better.

Beyond that, a few placeables and transition to the level above, and there is your tower attached to a building, freely accessable! If needed, I can post the build peice by peice as Ale has done (though to his credit, I think his looks a ton better than what I've done...but then again, The House Invincable is supposed to be a bit stark....)

Image

An overhead image after I shortened the filler walls connecting the curved walls.

Nicely done. The House Invicible will be a great showcase.

That's clever work. You should be able to get the wall colours close to being the same, but I wouldn't worry about it too much.

For interesting walls around staircasings....

Make your normal tower shell.
Image

Add columns. **Only do this if you are using Dwarven tile IN CONJUNCTION with other types of tiles**( I used something from the walls menu of manmade props, called Stome post, and resized them to 1.3,1.6,2) Place the columns to hide the dwarven columns if you are using other tilsets like I have, if not, simply tile in the columns.

Image

Next, make 2 sunken ruin lamps. You'll want the ones that have ON beside them if you want purple lighting, if you desire other colored lighting, pick the ones with OFF and add lighting later. For convenience, I have chosen the ones with ON. Resize them to 1.15, 1.15, 1.2.

Image

Place these two side by side in between the columns, as shown. Be sure they are flush with the columns, and that they line up with one another....adjust as needed.

Image

Next, you'll need to place a wall behind these two....cause these guys are invisible from the other side, as shown below.

Image

Image

For the wall, I used the Mulsantir 02 wall resized to .9, .25, 1.4. Place this wall behind your two lamp walls. Make sure the wall behind CLEARS the stairs.

Image

Now, simply add something above your two lamp walls. I used the mosaic art peice rescaled to 1, 1, 1.35.

Image

Do this for the other two sides, leaving one side open where the stairs meet the ground. Walls around your stairs, and cool looking from the tower itself to boot!

Wynna, for the top level of my first tower I used another Alered special, his stairway closet. couple of pics for you. I'll see if I can't come up with something more realistic... on this top tower I just have the four curves as the outer walls, and took out my connector peices that made the circle bigger. I'll try to do a stair tile up in the middle next with hand rails and see how that looks. Will provide pics.

Above is after color tweakage and 2 cloumns added, I might end up ditching the wall and one column from the door side and scooting the whole thing closer to the wall.

For the Second try, I used the one wall stair tile of the castle tileset. I then extended the wall out to the tower rim by regular castle tileset doorways.

Image

Image

I then separated my rooms with a wall.

Image

Note that this resolution to the top level tower issue is for larger scale towers. I had to expand my walls out slightly to cover the end of the tilewalls, and I already had spacers in between my curve walls to make the tower area bigger.

**EDIT** Although a quick build, I personally was not happy with the above, as it included three different types of walls which did not mesh well together...so I went back and made my own.

Another example of walls around a staircase, used the stone bookcase for this one as well as resized benches for more shelf room. A neat way to do a library wing!

For the towers with more than two levels. Those levels in between top and bottom need an access point to go both down and up. The spiral staircase includes one that goes up, but what about down? The simple solution, a self made door at the bottom of the stairs. Take Alereds selfmade doorway (resized stocks, blackened tileblock) and superimpose it onto the wall at the bottom of the stairs, and boom, stairway leading down. simply add a transition to the door.

the semi-final result of my self made wall, split two room top level. This stairway is complete with ballisters at the top and handrails up the sides. Didn't know how the end product would look, but I am liking it. Am planning to use this style on my Paladin tower as well, so I might do a variation/experimentation with it.

It's fab, Dan. When I get to my second level, I'll plagiarize shamelessly.
Enjoy the game
