HAKs and overrides for building

Post by Thangorn »

alright.. I am having a few issues with my haks as I'm getting back into building..

Somebody please provide me with the following -:
1. What game version ALFA's haks are on.
2. What haks I need to associate with the module and in what order.
3. A listing of the files I need my My Docs override.
4. A list of terrain files, tile files and grass files.
5. Which version tlk file I should be using and associating with my base mod.
6. A list of the erfs I need to import to use all the content.

I require all the content alfa has available so I will need to know all the files that need to go in the override to do so..

Thank you.

I've gone through the Project/downloads link and I have DLed everything there and have followed the destructions yet I am still having issues..

I've also grabbed all the stuff from this page.. http://www.alandfaraway.org/downloads/N ... /builders/

Victim of terrible timing, Thangs. I'm 1500 miles away from my build computer or I'd see what I could do to help. AL left to drive cross-country the very day (I think) that you posted your questions. Hang in there! I'm not back for two weeks and I'm not sure about AL, but I hope you get your questions answered soon. Need more builders!

BTW, when I'm back, I'll be glad to sign on to answer toolset questions in one of your chats.
Enjoy the game

What problems are you having, Thangorn?
Thangorn wrote:1. What game version ALFA's haks are on.
If you run Worldgate, you should be in sync with the latest version. However, that won't get you all the server side scripts that are in the 03 module (get those off the 03 module) or the builder specific content. I *think* we have a separate Worldgate setup for that, but I'll have to look around for it.
2. What haks I need to associate with the module and in what order.
This shouldn't matter at this juncture. I believe AL integrated all 3rd party content into our HAKs so we shouldn't have any resource conflicts that would make order important.
3. A listing of the files I need my My Docs override.
Grab the Toolset Overrides file. The latest version on the FTP server is 1.42 so unless that has been modified locally for 03, that's the version you should use.
4. A list of terrain files, tile files and grass files.
Grab the Toolset Terrains, Grass, and Tiles files. The latest versions on the FTP server are 1.21, 1.22, and 1.21 respectively, but same caveat as above. Also, I think the Grass may have been deprecated or included in stock NWN2 as the link to it has been removed off the downloads page.
5. Which version tlk file I should be using and associating with my base mod.
It's alfa_acr01.tlk but Worldgate should sync this for you too.
6. A list of the erfs I need to import to use all the content.
Here are all the premade blueprints of custom content in our HAKs that you can import (on the FTP server):

# alfa_archedbridges.erf
# alfa_bth_houses.erf
# alfa_caveroofs.erf
# alfa_citywalls.erf
# alfa_deephalls+sewers.erf
# alfa_deephallsdoor.erf
# alfa_deepsewers.erf
# alfa_dmfi_nocon.erf
# alfa_drowcaves.erf
# alfa_pctools.erf
# alfa_ramparts.erf
# alfa_ramparts_citywalls.rar
# alfa_rws_bridges.erf
# alfa_signposts.erf
# alfa_stainedglass.erf
# alfa_stainedglass.rar
# dmfi_placedeffectfix.rar
I've also grabbed all the stuff from this page.. http://www.alandfaraway.org/downloads/N ... /builders/
Well then, unless you've missed something or there are updated versions only on the 03 server, you've got everything you need.

AFAIK, 03 has no modified haks or other files. We have some custom items and such that we've made for the server, don't know if AL has had time to plug them back into the builder files, but they should not affect your build.

PLEASE be sure you do NOT have the custom skills.2da on your machine as it is known to corrupt builds and causes all sorts of headaches.

okay no worries.. Thanks very much guys..

I think custom_skills.2da might be my problem..

I've done every thing right by the looks of things otherwise.
Shouldn't pocket cathedral and the other newer stuff, etc. be in there too?

anyway my issue is I am having major 2da problems.. all the placeable models are coming out wrong including OC content. eg. A waterfall placeables are giving me grey, animated stained glass windows!..

the haks work perfectly IG on TSM so surely it cant be that.. it must be overrides that are causing me issues and most likely 2da conflict problems.

If you guys can think of anything else. give me a shout.

:D

iirc, alfa_acr01.hak was an interim addition, since subsumed into alfa_acr.hak - AL would know for sure, but he's moving cross-country right now.

Not sure about alfa_textures02.hak but I don't see it in my hak folder, and it's not needed for Live.

And a good thing you didn't get bit by the custom_skills.2da bug - that one was a real PITA.
