I believe that's been linked before in the other thread... while impressive, most of it isn't very appropriate...

The appearances/textures are pretty nice, but I have tried to nudge things in a less "wildly fantastical" direction with our weapon models in the haks, overriding a number of the very stylized and in my opinion, immursion-breaking, sword models with more traditional ones already. One thing we can do is some mixing/matching to add selected models from a hak set, so we could just adopt the less fantastical models if builders and players are eager to get more to work with.

The armors in that pack are all set up as fullplate, and don't work for dwarves/gnomes/halflings/half-orcs, which makes things a bit complicated for using them ingame (since we don't have an "only usable by race" itemproperty yet AFAIK). The dark crystal armor looks more like a leather or studded leather to me, esp. considering the open midriff on the female version.

I'll look at the set more closely in a few days when I get into some overdue hak additions.

Wow!! (literally)

Pretty damn skilled guy, but yeah, these don't feel like they belong, especially not with regular PCs. I could definitely imagine seeing them on some dark evil overlord of some kind. But these all look like they belong to hugely powerful high level individuals.
Gotta love those bumpmapped (?) cloaks etc though.

I swear I used to have that one axe for my He-man doll when I was a kid :D

The thing that jumped out to me, was he said he did it for fun, and that there ws one he did on request. Perhaps if he was approached at an offical level he may be interested in comming up with some more aproperate but beautiful models.

I have allways thought the plate mail breastplates were under done compaired with the rest of the armour.

I personally do not approve of lineage 2 weapons making it's way into ALFA.

I dont see an issue with them as long as they are the jurisdiction of DMs and builders and not purchasable anywhere..

Armors in that hak only work for a few races... none of the shorties included. I don't see any of them as particularly appropriate for ALFA's span, except for plots where you come into contact with extra-planar adversaries, usually from the plane of comedy armor. Example: give a Mercykiller warrior some swoopy razorblade covered plate harness, and a Donkey Kong sized mallet if you want, with the recognition it'd look completely alien to a Clueless citizen of Faerun.

Weapons are for the most part, captured in the "other planar" vibe mentioned above. There may be a couple of okay models though, and fortunately, they're not tied to any given race. Example, the staves look pretty enough, don't they? Sure they'd probably have to be magic ones, no one is just cutting a fallen tree limb and carving it into something that funky, but hey. The rapiers seem non-terrible as well, maybe because they're such low profile / subtle blades, they don't look like something you'd carry around in a handcart, like in a Final Fantasy game (is that a sharpened steel girder, or a sword?) Perhaps there are other non-psycho models to be found, I just based an opinion on the screenshots without an actual DL and flip through the stuff.

Re: adding completely: I would not leave it to builder discretion to use wacky models judiciously, since people frequently tool their own arms and armor for submission... and builder visions differ frequently. Once the genie's out of the bottle, you can't reasonably expect to "screen" very well after a point. "Your armor design sucks, pls submit something less freaky" or variants only lead to confrontation and buzzkilling.

Several of the weapons could serve as ceremonial... like the staves for NPC priests. The Dark Crystal clothing doesn't look bad, either.

Next time we have a significant hak update, I'll make a pass through this pack, and pick a subset of the models to add. If it gets us one or two more decent clothing/armor appearances, and a few more rapiers and staves, it'll be time well spent. I do dislike adding armor/clothing that is incompatible with non-human body models, though perhaps we can also add a Race Restriction item property via haks that makes the limitation clear up-front when examining the item in a store interface, before purchase.

Does the race restriction item property in the default toolset not work?

I'll check this when I get home, I may have been thinking of the nonexistant Gender restriction which plagues any attempt to make accurate text descriptions of clothing blueprints. (even the ones that look comparable between male and female models tend to use different model numbers for each).

It's under Use Limitation: Racial Type. Is that one of the options that is present but bugged, similar to Double Weapons?

I also remember seeing a gender restriction somewhere... possibly in the item property 2das... can't find it now for whatever reason...

AL,

While you are at it can you add a few variations of the chain shirt armor of the "rogue links" style available in the toolset to the merchants on TSM. I don't mean the ehancements, just that style and look of armor. If the colors were dark and "rogueish" that would be a plus. Currently all chain shirt styles have more of a warrior look. If you have the time it would be much appreciated by players of rogues everwhere. :D
