This is something really cool that could give players something to do besides go kill kill kill. We like variety and owning our own shops and making money that way would be a nice alternative to having to risk dying on some scripted quest.
Would really like to see this added. We need alternative ways to advance in game besides leveling. Not everyone wants to be lvl 20 with uber powers.

I recall something like this in ALFA1, it'd be nice to get all the functionality back from the first game.

And my elf is itching to start his own archery store, after having RP under a DM learning the art and actually building bows, and being hired by one of the resident crafters of wintersedge, i supose that itch would be justified

set up properly it could work well.
The player has to invest in the shop (staff, inventory, facilities). These assets could be adventuring-relevant, and so should be relatively expensive in terms of a typical adventurer's budget. This would have to be DMd.
Going forward, the simple version would have a random profit every RL week or so, or the time could be tied into the RP XP timer already in existence. Attach it as conversation to an employee, that way you could have profits *and* losses (would need to figure out a way to enforce losses to use them), with an average result of a rather small profit.
A complicated version would tie into store inventory...keep track of a balance with random movements in inventory maybe? I don't know, it'd be complicated.
