Known Exploits

Since like half of the server population has told us for weeks about this, it's pretty well known.

You can farm certain monsters by using missile weapons on them. If you stand still they will not chase you. This is of course an exploit. Either trigger the monster to chase by moving a bit, have a partner melee it first, or move away and find something else to do.

We are working on a solution..thanks to a long chat w/ Daniel and some testing with various iterations of altered monsters...we may have isolated the issue to an area lag issue...maybe.

Farming these critters like this = permanent server ban. I know people are better than this, but I say it anyways.

Thanks for all the bug reports and testing people did (jmecha, Duncan, Cloud etc.)

May I plead ignorance and ask which creatures this involves? I realise it'll become obvious fast enough when we fight them, but I'd rather not even raise the suspicion by first striking from afar.

Striking from afar to start up the fight should still be kosher. But when they stop and suddenly forget how to, say, move from a hardwood floor to a carpeted one (as NWN2 critters are wont to do), you can't keep striking from afar.

Well the best thing you can do is NOT go out looking for them.

I'll tend toward the "if it is in my way to somewhere elese" I will kill it in a manner that is IC for my character.

However I don't play this game to wander about alone and kill things either.

this issue has been repaired thanks to a long chat with Zelk

There was a script problem. i will leave it at that.

So our ogres and lizardmen should now fight normally when shot at. game on!

they also chase better..fair warning those those that walk around critters...

Yes, among the naughty naughty scripts that I saw defeated and scattered before me were the bits responsible for the bad guys noticing you, and bad guys telling their friends that they noticed you.

So, that all should be working better!
