Gearing up for Live - what is available on the server

Server Content

Yes, we cater to all alignments and demi-humans (drow excepted for the time being - though I am willing to work this out unitl our ounderdark connection comes out- perhaps as a liason to a thieve's guild etc.). Thus there are active thieve's guilds, pirate groups, good and evil aligned mage groups, religious orders, druid groves etc. on the server, each of which is open to use by Players.

One note: the Corwell Druid grove serves as the public religious center on the island, per canon - so feel free to enter and visit, just don't go chopping trees down.

PC property:

Many have asked about buying buildings etc. on the server - please submit your ideas to me as everyone is welcome on the server. You can build a modest HQ which you can then buy - anything larger requires a quest - which our DMs will be happy to entertain.

Examples of HQ's you can pretty easily buy: your HQ could be a ship for example (which would be really cool with a DM as you coudl tavel around etc.), or a simple building in an IC location - e.g. do not expect to move into a rural village as a foreigner. I recommend you buy buildings in Corwell Town, as it is our main hub. (Unless we get a group of native Northmen who want a nice smelly encampment someplace....)

It helps if someone can build the house for us, the team is swamped with build areas for phase 2 content (after live).

A thought for the "house" thing actually.

Most people just want a pchest, I believe... this might just be handled by having a massive warehouse somewhere with around 50 pchests for sale, or some sort of a scripted system. I believe Amn did something like that, didn't they?

Likely, but a "central deposit" should be susceptible to a high-bluff larceny.

Pchests are supposed to be server-reset-proof, not burglary-proof.

We do also have a warehouse for storage of items - the Calisham Coster rents chests.

Some people want a house so they can play with the furniture or whatever or they just like the idea of owning something.

There was a whole thread in the main forum on whether to allow pChest burglary, and having a house is the same difference, you can rob one of those too. Not going to argue it here.

Our server rule on any PC owned chest, house or other property with a lock on it:
You can only burglarize in the presence of a server DM. You also need a good IC reason as to why you are singling out a rather mundane looking PC-owned chest versus the 1000s of other chests, crates, houses or other containers on the server. I consider anything else cheating - namely use of meta knowledge that this is a player chest and thus likely to contain more valuable stuff. Examples of IC reasons include knowing via in game RP, that a particular item is stored in a particular location, loud mouth pChest owners boasting of all the gold they stuffed into chest no. 2 at the warehouse just down the street etc.

Only slightly tangential.

Can the buyback limit for some of the merchants be raised.

It is possible I haven't looked everywhere, but I am yet to see a merchant who will purchase any singnle item for more than 200gp total. Hopefully there are some places where it would be IC/canon appropriate to have bigger buyers for bigger items.

There are a few scattered about. Highest limit I think I got was... ~2k?

our server is very rural, 200gp is a lot of coin. I will look into raising the buy back in Callidyrr the capital and Corwell to something mroe realistic. But it is set low for a reason. If you need to sell something expensive see me in chat and I will have a merchant negotiate a price for you.

I'm with you on the whole "rural" thing. It's not like I expect the fishmonger on the docks to buy a +2 cloak of protection.

Actually, in the interval from my earlier post I was able to find some merchants that had a higher limit.......so no worries. :)
