Re: Dungeon Crawl
Some thoughts: this may be a fundamentally different game in some ways than a typical ALFA crawl. Aside from the higher CR, possibly lots of traps, etc. note Xan has made it clear there's a 33% chance that the -6 floor will not save us; there should be higher priority than usual perhaps towards preventing falling into negatives AT ALL and/or taking massive damage.
I'm a little concerned that folks seem to be looking at stuff like caster lvl 1 wands of clw as being important; tapping someone for 4.5 hps of healing during combat is probably going to be a wasted round of action at these levels, certainly so if someone takes massive dmg, the 1d3 is rolled, and dies instantly. For out of combat healing it's also inferior as a clvl1 wand of lesser vigor (same price) does 11 hps of healing.
Someone needs to keep a close eye on wounded folks and have CSW, CCW, Heal, stuff like the AOE healing ability ready to go for in combat healing. Save the wands of band-aid boo boos for out of combat healing. Better yet, find ways to keep folks from getting badly hurt or crippled in the first place: Death Ward, (Lesser) Restoration, Freedom of Movement, help out the trapper with Conviction, Heroism, etc. We have 2 (possible as many as 4) clerics; we should be able to come up with ways to deal with a lot of unpleasant stuff, ideally in a preventive rather than purely reactionary way.
I also think based on comments from Xan (correct me if I'm wrong) that we would benefit from a slightly faster paced play-style than a typical ALFA session, for a number of reasons. I'm thinking managing buffs and other resources are going to be more important than usual, and that always gets tricky when it takes 10 minutes to type out a 1 minute conversation/emoted actions/skillcheck result, etc. I'm unsure what resting is going to be like, that can vary wildly from DM to DM, session to session, so that's another factor; I'm going into this prepared to not have a chance to rest at all... Lastly I think it's going to be pretty IC for most PCs to not want to linger too long in the place. I could be completely wrong of course, but I think what I'm going to do is adopt a 'all business, let's focus on getting this done and getting out of this nasty place in one piece' mode for Aglaril (famous last words...).

Re: Dungeon Crawl
Im sure we can coordinate spell selection. Low level cleric buffs shouldnt be a problem, but when it comes to higher level stuff like deathward and heal, at least for Daertho theres serious opportunity cost issues. Without divine strength or battletide hes not much use in meele, so if he buffs too much he has little to contribute when the fight starts.
Re: Dungeon Crawl
The pacing is pretty much up to you. I think going quickly has its advantages and flaws.Ithildur wrote:I also think based on comments from Xan (correct me if I'm wrong) that we would benefit from a slightly faster paced play-style than a typical ALFA session, for a number of reasons. As for resting, also up to you. I am entirely prepared to do a "time passes" if the party wants to sit down in the middle of the dungeon and wait for a day so they can prepare more spells. Of course time does pass if you do that and the situation may change. Whether the time passes uneventfully or not depends on the circumstances.

Re: Dungeon Crawl
Just to clarify, I'm not advocating actually ICly rushing ahead, triggering every trap and pitfall, running unprepared into a pack of Night stalkers, etc.
Will try to gain some intel/information IC before the session begins, possibly compare notes with other folks.

Totally should've named him Jarvis.Xanthea wrote:Rest in peace, Robot-Jeeves. You always said "thank you", "you're welcome", and "please".

So, let's confirm, next Saturday same time? Is there a chance Heegz and whoever else couldn't make it for the first session can jump in, since we haven't gotten very far in?

Oh, btw, read about Ag's daddy issues in the bathroom just now. Was a good read.

Re: Dungeon Crawl
I don't want people dropping in at this point. But special offer, if people are willing to do the legwork talking to Castano I'm happy to turn over control of Gregory or Patrick to someone else who wants in. I suppose logistics would mean you'd have to be a temporary DM on MS, but I'll help you build the characters in the PC client so you don't need to do anything other than be a DM on record until this finishes.
For reference, Gregory is a trap master rogue.
Patrick is a brash warrior.

Re: Dungeon Crawl
There are many pages of content here; is there an agreed-upon time? There are folk who are already MS DMs who may be happy to be a dead NPC for the event if the time is compatible.
Re: Dungeon Crawl
Oh, right, that's important.
Would be nice to have you play if you mean you.
