Granted, the black and white map does have a level of zoom that I didn't see. (Pet peeve: I loath any web tool that makes you click several times to see the native image resolution.) It's still a rough looking map that isn't particularly clear in places (in and around Corwell for example). Players who aren't already familiar with the region will find it hard work, as I did back in the day.

As for terrain contours: there are no contours on either map, not that they matter to the typical player.

Clearly a better/updated server map is needed as there are supposedly readily accessible regions on MS that long term players (and DMs!) don't even know exist; Moray Isle for example. (The fact that the AT to Moray is invisible doesn't help much either.)

Bah, looks like that website that formerly hosted that pic as a GIF went and converted it to jpeg, fixing the resolution. I have the fully zoomable GIF we used to build MS, and I can email it to anyone who wants it (except for IKP :P) - all place names zoom clearly fairly close. If you need anythign better than this you are wantign RL not ALFA. I tried to flickr it just now and flickr also converts the file to a jpeg, so not much use there.

pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

No sweat. I've collected various maps from various sources and now know where everything is meant to be. I'll have a stab a drawing up a server map soonish.
