Granted, the black and white map does have a level of zoom that I didn't see. (Pet peeve: I loath any web tool that makes you click several times to see the native image resolution.) It's still a rough looking map that isn't particularly clear in places (in and around Corwell for example). Players who aren't already familiar with the region will find it hard work, as I did back in the day.
As for terrain contours: there are no contours on either map, not that they matter to the typical player.
Clearly a better/updated server map is needed as there are supposedly readily accessible regions on MS that long term players (and DMs!) don't even know exist; Moray Isle for example. (The fact that the AT to Moray is invisible doesn't help much either.)
