Being that there wasn't much of a turnout at the session time I had planned, I have set up two quasi-static encounters.
One is low-CR (3-4) and one is high-CR (8-10) with a lower-CR (2-3) teaser in easier-to-spot areas. All of the information you need to find both of them exists in plain view in current villages in play. Once found, both are relatively little (I expect less than 30 minutes) things to handle.
You won't be able to mistake these hooks for anything else (they'll instruct you to examine them), and they'll be available entirely in-character. If your party is of appropriate level for the challenge (i.e. a party within a couple levels of the range) I can exchange a log of the RP for a little nibble of XP.
Regardless, there are as-of-yet undefined loots in both locales, and I can be contacted to "clean up" the miscellany (read: exchange it for real loot).

yay! I am really glad you are exploring things on MS.
you might post a rumor in the rumor area to direct the players that something is afoot and hint at it's level of deadliness.

The hooks are in the module.
If I'm too blunt with it, the first people to log on will be the ones to find the loot, and that's not terribly fair.
In any case, someone took a divot out of the high-CR one, so I'm downgrading its challenge to CR 8-9: still dangerous, of course-- and harder to find now!-- so bring your friends.

Talk of goblins rummaging about the Swanmay river has been circulating lately-- some insist that these ones have the good sense to wear decent clothes and carry sharpened steel weapons, though concerns seem to center on the notion of it being a bad thing to have such creatures next to any source of potable water.
Interested PCs might look for in-character hooks and clues on Alaron isle, near the Swanmay River.
