Bogs on DMing.

Post by Sidhe »

I see a lot of familiar faces now that I've jumped the fence, but for the benefit of those that don’t know me I'll give a brief summary of my DMing style;

First and foremost the only limit to what your PC wants to try and do/accomplish/perform is your imagination and relationship with the dice, the harder/cooler/more professional the thing you are trying to do the higher the rolls to get it done - naturally :)

I believe in creating stories/quests with the players rather than "railroading" them down how I think it should play out. So this means that if your group gets stuck on a tangent/dead-end, i will follow where you are leading and react accordingly. It’s all about character development, and, how you get there is just as important as where there is.

I've been accussed of testing the ethics/morals/alignment of characters in the past so I guess I should mention that. Every situation will not work out 100% how you want it too unless you put in the creativity/effort to get that result.

In a nutshell:

Risk = reward

Actions = consequences

Great DM folks, even if he does screw with people in a good way sometimes :p
First Character: Zyrus Meynolt, the serene Water Genasi berserker. "I am the embodiment of the oceans; serene until you summon the storm." Zyrus: http://tinyurl.com/9emdbnd

Second Character: Damien Collins, the atypical druid. "What? Being a stick in the mud is boring. No pun intended grins"

I approve this message.
pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

I always enjoyed a good Boggling in Exodus; alas, all too infrequently as it turned out. Anyone who gets out of bed at silly-o'clock to DM has to be a particularly desirable flavour of deranged for these 'ere parts.

I echo the previous positive sentiments. MaxBogs is a uniquely gifted DM, a master at turning plots in unexpected directions, squeezing players until they cry -- and then thank him afterward! :twisted:

Buckle up and enjoy the ride! It's sure to be epic. :)

Will be off a few more days for work and then anniversary, should be vexing players again by 12/7 - morning sessions for the win! (thats 11/7, afternoon/evening for you most likley)

As a side note; you guys are really quiet. Dont be shy to bug/request/demand via IG PM's, forums or IRC.

I've found most here are conditioned that 'bugging the DM' is a bad idea. It'll take a while to do that for most.
