The wolves are badass. Don't venture south of town unless you want to get eated.

Yep...wolves in ALFA are every bit as fiercesome as they are in RL.
But just so you know, one of my L1's nearly got eaten by a rat once as well

When you see a chicken, run. Run like nobody's business, and don't even look behind you until you passed at least three transitions.
Fear the chicken!

A good rule of thumb is, if an NPC is paying you to do a patrol, it probably means wherever you're being paid to patrol is going to be dangerous enough to warrant partying up with others for it, especially if you're 1st / 2nd / d4 hitdice or other fragile conditions.
Sorry to hear about your PC, though.

Pay attention to what the quest-givers tell you. Most of the more difficult jobs will come with a warning.

DnD is a team sport.
The wolves will not care that you wrote a nice background or that you really like the name you chose. YOU have to care, your PC has to care enough grasp that the world is dangerous and a lone adventurer always has an exposed back
Im sorry to hear about your PC too, but we dont need a post complaining about how hard those wolves are. All our PCs live on the same server and deal with the same wolves, orcs, and gnolls, as you.
Theres six simple rules you need to know to keeping your PC. Most PC losses come from failing to follow one of these rules below
1- Dont go alone. Dont make an antisocial PC, youll just need a new one anyway
2- Dont go alone. Dont make an excuse like "No one else is logged in and Im bored"... youll still lose that PC and be just as bored with your next PC
3- Dont go alone. Even after you hit level two and think you can take those goblins.
4- Dont go alone. No RP is happening when you are solo
5- Dont go alone. The gnolls dont solo. Make your PC smarter than a gnoll
6- Dont go alone. If you are having trouble finding IC friends, look at existing player groups before making your next PC (Holly? You reading these?)
Make some friends, take them with you, keep your PC

I wasn't complaining or ignorant of those points. I was stating fact. A fact that needs occasional airing.

Them trolls is so dumb they don't know they's dead unless you burn it into their conciences.

Seriously, it's hard to grasp just how much damage a wild animal can do to even a prepared human(-oid). Yes, a wolf or even a badger
will actually kill you if you corner one. We're too used to domesticated animals and wildlife documentaries showing nature's beauty, to realise mother Nature's other children want us dead. They evolved to accomplish this.
There are many copies.
And they have a plan...

Several months ago I was unlucky enough to encounter wolves in Silverwood... this was before there was a quest; I was just exploring.
I did around twenty damage to one in self-defense before reaching 3/4 of its total health, leading to the following conclusion: "Don't fight wolves."
Which turns out to be rather difficult! They can see through stealth, smell you while invisible, and attack while you are running away.... which has brought me to "Don't fucking go anywhere wolves might be."

On the up side, you do get a swell 3xp for killing one.

I agree with all the points made about not going alone, though I would not shout them to Pel because Pel has been here a long time and I am sure he knows them all (even if he didn't follow them this time).
But .. on a tangent - wolves vs. people? I know wolves were common threat in the middle-ages to peasants and such, but I find it hard to believe that a wolf is a serious threat to an armored warrior in chainmail or plate armor. I mean, my vision of the fight is thus: "Wolf bites at warrior, breaks teeth on armor. Large sharp metal weapon smashes wolf into medieval road kill." (Note, I have no idea what kind of armor or weapons Pel's PC had - I am just talking in general). And, while animals can be dangerous, I just don't see much danger to an armed and armored warrior from a normal wolf (dire wolves, winter wolves and another 'fantasy' wolves are a different story of course). But, I used to own a siberian husky-wolf mix and .. gah, yes, fearsome creature, but so not fearsome as to be able to bite her way through plate armor (though she did eat the side out of her dog house and plug her guts up with wood chips once .. yech ..).
Just my thoughts.

The wolves of TSM are uncommonly strong for their breed.
It might be nice if they had a name or viewable description suggesting they are uncommonly large and dangerous (even compared to Monster Manual wolves, which I would assume are common wolves that adventurers commonly encounter)... just to give that extra hint, hey this might be especially dangerous.
I think we do have a framework that was intended to allow a Lore / Knowledge (Monstrology) to reveal a creature's name... I'll ask AL if this is something we're still looking into...

Well, considering how sexy DnD makes their armor I'm sure an exposed belly button or overflowing cleavage might be a tempting target for wildlife.
But yes, wildlife can be deadly. I've been chased by all sorts of beasties, big and small in my vacation travels to get wildlife pics worth framing. My fav is still running from a massive Monitor lizard on Sapi island, Borneo that came down to the beach to raid my lunch between dives. And I thought pigeons were bad
